she won't go in O/D

Hi all. I have noticed in the past 2 weeks that my AUTO 2K, won't go into O/D. I don't wanna say it's not going into O/D, cause at 40 MPH, if i push the O/D button, the RPM rises. So i am thinking it does go into O/D. But after hitting 40 MPH, the car seems to go into some gear, which causes the RPM to drop down to 1.5

Now a days, it doesn't do that until i have driven a good 7 or eight minutes. It seems, the the RMP only drops down, when the engine and tranny have warmed up..I am in Indiana, and usually its very cold here, but this winter hasn't been bad at all..I recently, about 2000 miles ago, changed my tranny oil.

Does anyone know why it could be doing that, or am i just nuts...I wouldn't have noticed it, but after i got my dual 4" tip exhaust, i have noticed it, cause the muffler makes a deeper sound in high gears, and it is very noticable when it the RPM drops to 1.5

plz help,,,are these signs of my tranny going to tranny heaven
or am i nuts, or have i just confused everyone??

What your describing is normal. The transmission will not engauge O/D untill the tranny is up to proper operating temp. I think it's around 120 Deg.F. Your car is fine, Enjoy The Ride!
