My brand new, 3week old 2002 max-se has a lit abs indicator, and made a noise like a spring popped when I applied the brakes at low speed. Anyone out there know of a TSB or similar issue/report. I don't want to hear from the dealer that its a bad sensor...I heard that pop! and a TSB # would be a great help. Thanks All

 

I had the same thing happen to my 2002 but I had the car for 4 months and they said it was my left rear ABS sensor that died took a week to get the part in and replaced.

 

That Sound was scary when I first hered it on my Dads truck...I almost rearended someone and It was a Panic stop..I kept hearing that Sound and a Couple of Chrips from the Tires..Not to mention the Pedal was Vibrating like crazy. I thought the whole brake assembly was falling apart. But I realized it was Normal. But in your case..I'd say you guys have a flaw in your Car.

 

I think your talking about normal ABS in action. When I heard that "spring popping" noise, it was during a normal low speed stop at a traffic light.

Now I'm wondering if this is gonna happen to each wheel over time. ugh! I'm beginning to wish I got the extended warranty

 

Thats ABS..Its the WORST feeling and sounding thing in the world! After you turn off your car and brake as usual its back to normal.
