Believe it. I've gotten between 30-31 mpg easy in my 6-speed. Two trips from Dallas to West Texas, and one from Dallas to Temple/Killeen. Example: Drove Dallas/Abilene and back. Before leaving Dallas, I filled up and reset Trip Odometer to Zero. Got into town, parked car for the weekend. Did not fill up/top off tank upon starting back to Dallas. Stopped to fill up on the way back at Odometer reading of 354.8 miles. Filled up of 11.52 gallons.
354.8 miles divided by 11.52 gallons equals 30.8 mpg.
Call me strange, but I write my trip odo's on my gas reciept (that has the gallons purchased).
I'm tellin' ya, that sixth gear is "quite gnarly".

Believe it guys. I've been calculating my mileage for years. I know how to do this. I filled up my tank and reset the tripometer. 98.9 miles later I filled up again. It took 3.157 gallons, you do the math. Only real performance mod I have is the K+N Drop In.

The numbers (unless you're talking about superstring theories...
) don't lie.But if you factor a plus of, let's say, a quarter of a gallon (due to "topping off" or another unknown quantity) you'll still have a respectable 29 mpg.
Original amount of fuel: 3.157 gallons. Add .25 gallons. You have 3.407 gallons. 98.9 miles divided by 3.407 gallons is still 29.028 mpg.
Here, the only leeway that was provided was my arbitrary figure of plus .25 gallon used.
...Add to the fact that "topping off" for my Max usually nets less than .10 of a gallon.
I have also noticed that above 75-78 mph, the fuel economy drops to 24-25 mpg. Hmm...
