Drove a new Audi A6, 2.7T

All I can say is wow! I was even more shocked when I saw the weight - 3,900 lbs. These are quatro cars and even in the auto (tiptronic) it will go 0-60 in 6.6, manual 6.0.
Twin turbos, twin intercoolers, 5 valves and it feels much larger given the torque of 258 lb-ft from 1850-3600 rpm.
Though at $40k plus one does have to swallow hard.
Needless to say if you see an A6 2.7T don't run him - you'll be humbled.
Really rode nice, but with 2 tons of weight I quess it should

didn't there used to be a guy on here that had an A6 2.7T 6spd?

I remember he challenged me to a race in my Accord V6 with him only using 6th gear and I bit and then he backed down. I knew he was just kidding though...hehe

The sorry thing is, he still probably would have won!

Hmm... seems to me the driver of the A6 got humbled if i remember it correctly

Gotta admit though, AWD is pretty nifty.

In my area, these people do not believe in racing....or simply cant do it correctly. Although what I ran against probably was just a simple A6 non-T. But he was in the left lane on the phone (read: blood at an instant boil..no patience) being a schmuck. I flipped my brights to say "move it or loose it chump".

Of course since his car is SOOOOO much better than mine, he looked in the mirror like a billion times and yet would not move over. So, I gauged traffic, down shifted to 3 and at the next chance ran on him, passed him on the right, and then pretty much cut him off getting in front of him. I rowed through the gears and continued on my merry way.

I glanced in the mirror and saw him gaining. Quickly I might add. Very quickly. He got right on my ***, as I was following a line of cars and could not go anywhere, unlike him in the previous situation. He started flicking me off and blinking his brights and being relatively weird. But I noticed he was not on the phone any more. I moved over to let him by, even though he was going to go nowhere, and he started mimicing all my moves....ok car jock lets see what you got.

Started being a bit stupid and passing on right and left with minimal clearance. He continued to follow. Cool. Soo I set up my kill. Left lane say a 18Wheeler in the middle. Made a patented 3 lane pass to just the right of the rig and then SLOWED down and shifted back into 3 (mind you I was still in excess of the SL). Dumb Dumb was not paying attention. He whizzed behind the truck and in behind me, but did not notice my change in velocity and he had to jam the brakes and he got all squirrely. As I noticed him slowing down I jammed the gas and headed for the exit, my lane--precalculated-- which was an gentle left hand sweeper back over the highway onto another highway. I was moving "right" along and noticed he tried to catch but either gave up or the continuing turn was to much for him.

Yeah, stupid, but in my mind if you got the $$$$ you better know how to drive. My car should have been simply wasted in this exchange.

I don't really do organized street racing, but with a few friends and an open road, who knows?

Last year en route to a meet, I pulled away from a 4th gen auto with all the bolt ons (intake/exhaust/y-pipe, CAI) on the highway while in 6th gear.

Mine weighs about 3980 with a half tank of fuel, so it is pretty heavy. (the tip weighs something like 50lbs more)

I've run 14.4's and 14.5's at e-town, while completely stock, but with no high-rpm clutch drops or powershifting action.

A wonderful car, I would buy another one if the chance came up to. The only downside is the gas mileage. I get about 20 city and 25 highway, I kinda expected more for a car with a small motor.

The build quality is the best part of owning the car. Feels just as good and/or better than any BMW or MBZ I've sat in. After a while, you get used to the capabilities of the car, and it becomes boring to drive. It sounds childish, but I miss being able to squeal the tires every now and then.

Re: hmmm

Oh i was talking about my 2 experiences running with the Audi's. It's pretty close to say the least so the A6-T driver got my respect (and vice versa)

Unless I am not understanding you, I don't understand how a non-turbo A6 could waste you???? Even if it was the 3.0 2002, it still would not have a chance. Beautiful cars, but with out that kick *** turbo they are underpowered.

Where did he say that? He said the 3.0 2002 A6 still wouldn't have a chance.

The A6 is a wonderful car regardless of engine.
Probably due to price not accepted by the sub 40 croud.

Sorry if you missunderstood me, but as ru4real stated I never said that. For the record I was more or less stating that there is no chance a 2.8 or 3.0 (these are non-turbo) A6 could play with a max. This includes 5spd and auto........

Oh yeah, the A6 2.7T is most impressive but a bit pricey. I actually raced one the other night (before rupturing my cv boot ). The guy had some serious *****--we were doing 130 through lots of traffic. Believe it or not, I won. He would have killed me draging but I just found a good hole in the traffic and dominated from there on out.

If you have $40k for a A6, I would get an old supra tt instead and work on it. This supra IS king of the highway and it would cost about the same.

Not everyone is looking to trade "kill" lists. The Audi is a nicer car and I own a 02 Max.

It's undeniably a nicer car. I was most impressed.
I'm not here to start a flame war.
Just my two cents.

well since he did not smoke me, I could only "assume" what it was...did not spend much time behind him to know what for sure I was running against.
