My fuel fill line swallowed the little metal flap!

My fuel fill line swallowed the little metal flap!
(The flap that you push the gas pump filler through.)
I am not sure if it has fallen inside the gas tank or if it is just stuck in the up position on the henge. I remember seeing where someone else had the same thing happen. I don't know how long ago this happened, I just noticed this today.
To anyone else that has had this happen: What did the dealership do?? I only have 3,000 miles left on my "bumper to bumper" warranty.

Let me know what the dealership does to fix it.
Thanks.

I would get it fixed. If the plate fell into the tank there is a small chance that it will get sucked over the fuel intake (stalling you). It may also help in the vapor lock which appears critical to avoiding the engine check light. Just my $.02.

not sure if 2k2's have one i would assume so, but i wouldn't worry. ui've been inside the gas tank and there is a bag over teh pump, it will just sit there forever. it should be fine.

If I remember correctly, I don't believe the 5th Gen Max's have one of these. Come to think of it, I don't think my 4th Gen has one either, nor did my 01 Accord V6.
I don't think cars are coming with these in general nowadays.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, though

Gas Flap
I've had my 2k2SE for 1.5 weeks and just filled up this morning for the first time and noticed the same thing. The only reason I noticed was because when I tried to put that last gulp of gas in the tank, the last gulp everyone says your not supposed to put in, gas sprayed out of the tank and got all over me and my suit. I had to go home for lunch to shower and change clothes cause all the people at work kept walking by my office to stop and ask me if I smelled gasoline.
Thanks Nissan!
