Scraped My Bumper - Need "Buff" Help

....Well my dumb A$$ once again never ceases to amaze me. This last Sunday I went to take my snow blower out of the garage (MN weather) to get the "ice" off my driveway. As I was backing it up, it kicked on this bump and the blower scraped my rear plastic bumper on the drivers side. It's not deep but you can see multiple white scrapes about 4 inches long, 2 inches high. My 01's a Super Black and it doesn't look pretty.

What I'm afraid of is trying to buff this out and then I end up with swirls or something. Any ideas

There wont be swirls. If its a light scrape then a good buff can get it out. If its a deep scratch/scrape then it will lighten it a bit

I dunno if buffing will work. I have a similar scrape on my super black (garage door on the way down ) I'm probably just going to have the bumper re-painted. Seems to me, if you see white, you're through the paint and buffing just won't make it look the way you want it.

If the scratch is pass the clear coat on the bumper sorri If not there is a chance you can get it out by buffing lightly. Not sure what your point of attack is but I would try out a light rubbing compound as it removes paint if you go with a heavy compound. Also I would do it by hand slowly up and down motion. If its really light bug n' tar remover may work also it's less abrassive, other than that good luck!

Thanks!! I'll try the light compound. At least it may get rid of the lighter scrapes.

Don't you just want to "punch yourself" when something like this happens?

Yep, white means trouble....

have a few myself...decided just to live with them until I have enough to justify a paint job on the bumper..
