G35 Test Drive

G35 Test Drive
I took my 2k SE into Rosenthal Nissan for a check-up and oil change for the guy I'm selling it to. While I was there I walked over to their Infiniti dealer next door. Got a G35 test drive with no hassle. Took it on some twisties back behind WolfTrap. All I can say is that thing is tight!
Positives - The VDC makes it very sticky, pulled some tight 180s in the Wolftrap parking lot and the back end would not break loose, and it was raining! Very quick especially for an automatic. Interior is nice with reclining rear seats and perforated leather.
Negative - A little small - tight driver hip room an little rear seat leg room. But I'm 6-2, 225 so it might work for a lot of folks. Pricey - $33.5K without the performance package, heated seats, etc, and they are not negotiating. Claim that the cars just came in Monday and they had sold 5 sight unseen.
I thought it might make wish I had waited rather than go for the 2K2 Max HSLD...but I'm cool with it. Great car, just not for me.

I drove one tonight. First impression was not bad. But they won't go below msrp for the first 6 months so I said forget it.
Smaller diameter steering wheel is nice. I don't like the window controls way down on the door. Shifter in a nice high position though I don't like it's shape. Leater seats a cushy and comfortable and a bit narrower than the max's. Lether is quality. Adjustable rear seats and headrest are a nice addition. Seat controls on the right and the memory is way down on the left. Guages are nice. Hard to get out of the rear seats (I'm 6ft.) though the do open squarly.
Perfomance is good. Only got on it once for a short time since the guy was with me. RPM's spool up quicky and shifts don't seem to drop to low in the rpm range, maybe due to the 5 speed.
I'm sticking with the 6-speed Max.
