I tend to notice not a lot of car can hang with the Max on the HWY. I know I'm a good driver but damn I'm not that good!!! Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one on the road. Don't get me wrong a lot of people try but don't success. I don't really mess with the big boys like BMW M's, Benz AMG's, Audi A6 or A8 nor the Audi S's etc. but everything else is fair play. Once I get to about 70mph I'm unstoppable the car pulls very nice and smooth. One thing I should mention; is that I do a lot of manual shifting "maybe this helps". I don't play with other Maximas out of respect. But the new Alti 3.5 is a different story "I've had one or two chase me". Once I was Unfortunate to get behind one that just would not let me past; "those 3.5 Alti's are fast". But to close up have fun and drive safely.

 

Relative to other cars - yes. Which can also be said the opposite way.

The 3.5 Alts are fast and an Alt vs. Max race is no longer a race between machines but rather one of driver skill and luck.

i honestly dont think the older maxes are that "fast" yes the 2002 deserves some respect but still without mods etc... i would call our cars "quick" fast is more for like ss, cobras, all those 2 door cars u know what i mean.

 

The description of fast and quick is very distinct.

Fast = being able to go upwards of 145mph+
Quick = getting off the line in nnn seconds

 

Funny, everyone thinks the opposite.

The Maxima isn't quick...it's moderately FAST...but, not exactly quick.

 

Having ran V8's all my life, the Maxx is FAST ! Not too many cars with 4 doors and LOTS of weight, fully loaded, with naviagtion, can eat you up and spit you out ! Besides Benz, and BMW ( not all of them ) What can you come up with. I still dont give Audi that much credit. Just a few years ago , their cars spent more time in courts being returned under Lemon Laws, than in the hands of the owners !
