I know the brake rotors are covered until the 3y/36k warranty. but i bought the extended warranty, something like 7y/80k. my 2000 max has about 52k on it and the brakes started to shake really bad. took it to the dealer the other day, the service manager told me the exteded warranty does not cover brakes!!!!!!!!! what should i do?thanks guys.
Man I went through hell with my stock rotors and Nissan Service too
But that's when the car was still new approx 8,000-10,000 miles old. I don't think that they cover it past 36K miles though. Then again I could be wrong.

You are correct. Brakes are covered for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.Originally posted by NuJerseyDrive

Someone was selling brembo, x-drilled/slotted rotors for a decent price last week.. It might still be available.. Check the parts for sale forum..

You need to read the booklet that came with the extended warranty.Originally posted by hkpmax

It should list the parts covered.
Most extended warranties do not cover "wear" or maintence items such as brakes, tires, plugs, etc...The extended warranties are not as bumper to bumper as the dealers make them sound!
If its in the warranty booklet, they HAVE to fix it!
Or as RBa said, time for a brake upgrade!

Brake rotors are only covered for the 1st 12k of the cars life. That's it. No more warranty coverage for wear and tear parts after that.Originally posted by hkpmax

No they aren't. Read the owners manual. Brakes are a wear and tear item, covered for the 1st 12k or 1 year.Originally posted by y2kse

Re: Re: Dealer wouldn't repair my brake rotors!!!!!!!!
I got my 2k1 brakes serviced, at 26,000 or so, under the TSB and warranty
If the TSB doesn't apply, though, you are right.

If getting them serviced under the brake judder TSB, the TSB specifically states the repairs are covered under the 3year/36K warranty coverage.Originally posted by RussMaxManiac

My dealer wouldn't fix the rotors on my 2k1 max. I only have 16000 miles on my car. I pleaded with the sales manager and he said only the first 12000 miles will they do anything under warrenty. Time to take it to another dealer.

Get a copy of the TSB... it's available through the "Technical Service Bulletin Inside" sticky... show it to him if he objects.Originally posted by maximaman14

If not... well, I guess I got one for a change!
Finally... you might also be able to make a point that rotors aren't a "wear item" while allowing pads are. If he will do the rotor work, you pay for the pads. An idea, if it works.
Finally... if you routinely operate at and brake hard from high speeds (100+, say. no lectures) you'd probably benefit from aftermarket rotors as the Maxima stock rotors seem to be prone to warping, even with great treatment.

I have a 2000 Maxima with 33,000 miles on it and I just got my rotors resurfaced for free last week. Take in a copy of the TSB and they can't argue with that. I have to say I was dealing with a good service dept. though. I'm getting my new Bose stereo tomorrow too!
