Re: flooring it or no?

Touchy subject.

If you floor it from the beginning you'll get wheelspin and thus not go anywhere fast until you actually get some traction.

If you gradually accelerate you'll get some traction but also lose on some valuable acceleration time.

I say gradually accelerate from a stop then floor it

NO

DON'T FLOOR IT IF YOU HAVE A 2K2... not until you get the TSB fix (see the Nissan recall that was mailed 2you)

NISSAN RECALL INFO

HERE'S WHY YOU SHOULDN'T FLOOR IT YET:

LIMP FIX PIX

Right click on it & save it to your hardrive. Print & take to dealer.

I got a true RECALL NOTICE in the mail, but my scanner doesn't like WinXP. Someone moght be able to scan theirs & post it here. In any case, here's a brief description of what it says:

What Nissan will do: Nissan dealer will replace the accelerator pedal all the way down to the stopper. Should take 30min to complete.

What you should do: As a precaution until a new pedal stopper is installed, do not forcefully push the accelerator pedal all the way down to the stopper.

THIS RECALL IS FOR 2K2 OWNERS ONLY (drive-by-wire feature)

We're not even sure if the guy has a 2k2 with the problem. AFAIK, the recent production units don't have this problem.

Mine was one of the first out of Japan and yes i do have the problem. However i've floored it several times w/o a problem... i'm lucky i guess. Still waiting on my appointment date to come up (I already got the notice)
