Tokicos blown

My rear tokico sturts just blown; that after 3 months with Eibach springs. Good thing is that the place I bought it from is gonna get me a new set without charge since it's still under warranty. But heck! Is this normal? They are also offering me to change to Konis or they can put my stock ones back on and wait for the AGX. Any tokico users experencing a similar situation???

I haven't lowered my Maxima, but I've been watching suspension threads for quite some time. Generally speaking, Tokicos don't appear to have a very good reputation on this forum for durability. But I'd prefer to let those with personal experience speak for themselves.

I've had Tokico struts and Suspension Techniques springs for about 4 years, now. No problems whatsoever. Is it just me, or does it seem that most of the folks who report strut problems have Eibach springs?

Man your sig makes it look like the back drop is huge. Is that how much drop you get with the eibach springs. I have the progress/tokico combo and it doesn't drop that much, and I heard that progress drop the most out of all of them. What did u do?

honestly, i don't know why peeps complain about how Tokicos blow often..cuz i had them for almost 1 1/2 years..and i drove about 30,000 miles(freeway/race/local) and my shocks aren't blown..they're not even close to blowing...but AGX and Koni's are stiffer and you can adjust the damping..so if u have more money for those..go for it!

I had a Tokico "Blue" strut blow on my Escort after less than 10K miles of usage. I'm a firm believer that they are good as stock replacements at best, not for aftermarket lower, stiffer springs. But that was a different car so I had hoped it was an isolated case. Maybe not after this thread...

thanks for all the responses guys; I have decided to wait for the AGX when they are out in summer. For now I am back to stock... One fact I learned thus was that the shoper technicians were telling me that they are seeing lots of tokicos blown one after another; and not just on eibachs. Wonder if this is true.

the ride became extremely bumpy and cornering just sucked big time even with regular everyday driving. When I took out the sturt at my shop it's very clear that my rear left strut is pretty much gone.

The rear Tokico's in my opinion are nothing special and when overloaded blow out. That's why I'm running KYB adjustables in the rear instead of Tokicos. Because I can't wait for the KYB fronts, I installed Tokico struts on the front of the car because they should hold up with the H&R springs I installed.

Installed everything three weeks ago and just got back from a 1500 mile road trip. The ride was great, the rear was loaded with luggage, golf clubs, etc... but the rears were set at 2 and seem to hold the weight. I've had troubles with the Tokico rear shocks in the past and I'm very suprised there aren't more problems like these.
