Oil Drain Plug Washer

I'm one of those "do-it-yourselfers" who likes to change the oil at home. I read in the owner's manual that Nissan recommends putting in a "new" washer on the oil drain plug before re-installing it. Any other "Maxima-Org" do-it-yourselfers who put a new washer on their oil drain plugs everytime they change the oil? Or will the washer last more than one oil change? Thanks!

I also change my own oil...been doing it for years. Theres no way that you need to change the oil plug washer for your max at each oil change. I have changed my oil 3 times using the same washer and havent had a problem yet. Hope that helps yah!

yeah...

the parts department @ the dealer had them for like 20 cents.. so I got a handful. I've been swapping the washer (on max and pf) every other change. after being torqued down 3-4 times, the washer is more of a paper thin shim, not a washer

Lou and Tim, many thanks for the info...if the washers are that cheap I guess I'll keep some on hand, just in case.

I do it everytime....for $.20...I am not THAT cheap to replace it. Plus I have been ordering parts from some Nissan Dealerships and I get a handfull every now and then to make sure I keep replacing them.
