Mom just got An I35..Question about HIDs

Well after a week of Comparing the 2 car (G35-I35). We went for the I35 for the features and ride. The G35 has a sportier feel to it but lacks in the features and amenties department. I drove the I tonight and loved it. it rode really smooth with the Sport Package(thank me for talking my mom into the sport package). But one thing I noticed about the headlights...

They are Xenon...when you first turn them on they start out really blue and turn to a bright white. But when i parked the car in the garage i notice on the back wall that one headlight is slightly whiter than the other which the other is slighly more blue. Anyone know why...its hardly noticeable until you spot it then you always notice it.
Any 02 Maxima owners experience this??

Hmmm. When you notice the difference in colors, are the headlights fully warmed up? Both my headlights when they've been on for awhile, look to be the same color. But next time I drive at night, I'll take a closer look.

Yeah I didn't notice it driving but only when it was parked in the Garage and the headlights were shinning on the wall. The right seemed whiter/yellower than the left one.

Could be the angle? Change the park lights, so they match the HID's, and you will get a totally "white" look. It was worth it to me.

HID bulbs have about a 60 hour burn in time. The color will probably even out after you use them a bit. If it doesn't, have the dealer take a look at it.

Yeah i was thinking it was the parking lights as well. but i wasn't sure. I thought maybe it wasn't bright enough but I'll be sure to try it.

I'll wait 60 hrs.. I never knew that. But i did notice when you first switch them on they glow bright like a spilt second as though you blew a bulb or something. And they turn blue...then change over to white. ...I wish they'd stay blue...its looks cool that way...hehe

HID's can vary in color ...from bluish to white depending on the angle that you are viewing the reflector at. Have you ever noticed how an approaching car with HID lights (especially a BMW) looks white, then blue close up?

That's because they have projector lights and uses a prism inside the lens.

Ours is a regular HID system (bulb on reflective surface).

Definitely let it "break-in" for a few hours. When i first got my 2k2 the light wouldn't get white until a few minutes later. Now the lights stay blue only for several seconds and then it's all white. The light pattern is also equal on both sides.

That "burst of white light" you see when you first turn it on is due to the 10,000volts (if i remember correctly) of split-second electricity that's needed to turn the lights on.

Think of how a matchstick works, the second it strikes there's a burst of light. But as it stabilizes the burn pattern turns to a regular candle-type thingy. (forgot hoow it's called...sorry)
