Driven Ef9: Wtf???

That's because straights are for fast cars...
And, turns are for fast drivers...

And, brakes? Those are for stopping you
from hitting the car in front of you, Kam!

Please review the following websites, I'm sure this should enlighten ya a bit...by the way, my name is Kam.

6/10/01:

I got more if you like. Apology accepted.

Here's what happened:
Coming home from work one day, this moron in a full size chevy pick-up thought he could shoot across two lanes. Problem was, he was pulling out of a construction site that had PLENTY of dirt on the ground. He floored it, spun for a second, get grip and began his journey across the lanes. Too bad he didn't see the BRIGHT yellow honda cruising down the road.

Needless to say, I locked up my brakes (the calipers ((not current brakes)) were leaking fluid and didn't quite help with modulation)...hit the guy just behind his cab (more of the truck bed) and spun him 180 degrees. There was no way to avoid it, since i exceeded the traction limits of my front tires, the only thing i could do is hold on. It occurred over a span of about 2seconds.
Saw Him
Saw him spin
Saw him in my lane
Brake
The sudden stop that occurs after your parachute doesn't open.

I was ok, I was wearing my 5 point harness (THANK GOD!!)... it kept me from smashing my head into the steering wheel...which the stock OEM seatbelts would have allowed me to. I live by 5 point harnesses now (as long as a rollbar is equipped in the vehicle as well).

Yes, it was a total lost for the car. Since it was estimated at a cost of about $4800, the damage came to about $2800 (frame was bent). I took the money and grabbed my car.

I stripped the car of everything that was usable and gave it away as a charitable gift (gave it to a local high school's auto tech department). Wrote off $1800 on my taxes (which went to the purchase of another CRX).

Why is this on the Maxima forum? Well, I use to own a Maxima. I was one of the four people who raced his Maxima (ADMAN being another one of the four). I also have a pretty good sense of humor about things... so Adman was comfortable with teasing about this knowing i would laugh with him. Which i am. That's why.

Plus, 5th gen forum needs more crazy topics...

Thanks for you concern. I was fine for a bit... then my neck tensed up for awhile. I think the harness really prevented a lot of potential injuries.

Just as a reminder,
DO NOT USE A 5 POINT HARNESS WITHOUT A ROLLBAR/CAGE!!

yeah, ripped the engine out then sold it to a friend for $150.

The guy got 80% blame, i got 20% (they say i was speeding). He also got the ticket for failure to yield....

I noticed you either, didn't read my post or didn't anything to come back with (i believe the latter).

Read my post smart guy... I would love to hear commentary from such a versed and capable driver, like yourself.

A 5 point (4point and 6point) harness's main goal is to keep you held securely in the seat and prevent you from moving.

A stock OEM 3 point (shoulder and 2 lap points) allow you to pivot forward at an angle (towards the center of the car) during an accident.

With that in mind, imagine rolling over in your car with your 5 point on. What happens? Your head and spine is holding up a 3300lb vehicle. A rollbar is designed to prevent your head from becoming crushed in a roll-over accident.

This is why you should NEVER use a 4-6 point harness WITHOUT a rollbar/cage.

Granted... the chances of a rollover is not all that frequent, but, if you plan on using a racing harness...that must me you're doing some spirited driving.

and patrick, that DOHC ZC was sold long ago.
