Raced an I-30
Wonder if this is a forum member.
and this is the match that I have been waiting for...same car, same engine.
I was driving towards freeway on local roads....this I30 was about 5 -7 cars ahead of me, driving kinda fast (about 55 on a 25 road). I tried to catch up and he sped up too. We kept this distance untill we both stopped at the light to the freeway. It was a couple and the guy was driving. the lady next to him was turning back and looking at me.
After it turn green, he hit it and ran straight into the S shape ramp. I did the same, and I was cutting close to him while both of us was on ramp. I had to use the hand brake a bit to reduce the sway since the ramp was narrow and under construction. When he got into the freeway, he hit it again and immediately pulled a 2 car length. The wifey kept turning around and talking to him as I slammed on my gas. I switched 2 lanes and got into the most inner lane and he switched to the center lane. Now we were right next to each other and I was passing him inch by inch. He tried to catch up while I was accelerating but he ended up right next to my rear bumper. When finally he was blocked by a civic, he had to give up and change into my lane. Race ended at 110mph.
My analysis:
1.Weight?
a.fuel, I only had a little bit of gas left in my tank. The light was on when we were at the local roads. I assumed that he prob had a full tank.
b.more people? I doubt it, for a car like maxima/I30....2 ppl and 1 person prob wont make much diff.
2.mods? I doubt it....I only have a homemade in-take and K&N. It might compensate that 5 extra horses from the I30. But the suspension stuff helped a lot on catching him up on ramp.
3.wife's b1tching? prob. and maybe it was how I won the race. I noticed that she talked to him couple times while we were having fun.

WTF???
im kinda confused on what your saying. i probly didnt read it all. basically the I30 and max are the same thing. the I30 is heavier due to sound dampening material. the extra 5 horses doesnt make a big difference.
