Honda Prelude?? Wtf??
Honda Prelude?? Wtf??
Was cruising on the highway doing about 60 when an older (94-96, maybe?) Prelude SR-V flies by. We play cat and mouse for a bit in some traffic and I was able to make it out to an open stretch. I slowed down till he caught up. He looks at me gives me a smile and I return a thumbs up. I floored it from about 65 in third and the guy just completely walked my a$$. I was so stunned I didnt realize what was happening till I felt that awful lurch of the limiter kicking in. We did this three times from about the same speeds and he walked me every single time.
Anyone know what those cars have?? I didnt hear any loud exhaust nor did it look like anything special. It was definately a stick.. I could hear him shifting at times. I'd hear him downshift, a puff of smoke would come out from his exhaust and he would be GONE.
What was cool about it was the 'non-aggression' in this race. It was incredibly friendly and I didnt feel bad losing to him.
Damn, I need some Y.
Cheers,
rerunn.

Re: Honda Prelude?? Wtf??
Probably a VTEC, and probably turbo'd.
They were only rated at around 195 horses for the Type SH, and were good for a 7.4 0-60 time.
Hence, if he covered your AE 5-Speed like a blanket, he went to the aftermarket.

Agreed, there's no such Prelude as an SR-V. Maybe it was an Si? I don't know about the V.
The 93-96 Preludes were actually a little bit faster than the 97+ ludes. Even then, he shouldn't have walked you that hard without mods.

Swear I saw the SR-V
Apparently was 4th gen prelude made in the 92-96 model years according to:
http://www.ent.ohiou.edu/~fxia/car-prelude.html and this link: http://communities.msn.com/1996Honda...oto&PhotoID=12 explains it.
Once again a case of Canadian vs American marketing differences. The SR-V was sold in Canada only.
