SSR Competitions on a 2K2 SE

I've oogled over the 17"X8" SSR Competitions on the 2002 Maxima over at tirerack.com, and am within hours of ordering them, but I just have a few final questions
1) How does this wheel look on a black Maxima? I've stared at the tirerack pictures, but does anyone have any on their own that they'ld wish to share
2) As for tires, can this rim support a 245/40/17 tire. If so, what is the lightest weight/stickiest tire out there. I dont need all season, just a good high performance summer tire.

Thanks for your opinions, if all goes well, I'll be ordering this evening.

I went through the same thing when buying rims. Those pics don't help much. I think they would lookg great on a black 2k2 max.

I think they would look beautiful, but get 18". It's still much lighter than stock and it'll fill up the wheelwell a lot better. The 5th gen is a big car and needs bigger wheels. 17s are usually ok, but the SSR's have a lip which makes them look a bit small.

I'm gonna stick with 17"s because if I get 18"s, they'll kill my 60foot time at the track despite being lighter. As for wheel gap, my H&R's are ordered so that will take care of that

****, you're going to really be breakin the 13's with those.
I was just looking at the tirerack catalog and was thinking about finding out the price for those. How much do they go for with a decent set of tires if you dont mind me asking?

P.S. I'm PlanoSER's brother.

SSR Competition

I am planning on purchasing the same wheel at the end of summer, but I was thinking either 18X8 or 18X8.5 Any opinions? Also suggestions on tires that might help with the lack of traction would be great. They don't have to be all-season as blizzaks are going on the stock 17s. Thanks and I can't wait to see how the 17s look on your maxima.

Is he PassatVR6 on the Prelude board? If so, we've had some Maxima chat the last couple of weeks . I calculated that if I can save on average 10lbs at each wheel, that will translate into around a 360lb standardized weight reduction. With some stickier tires (RE92s suck really bad), I should be in the 13s. At least I hope. I believe the SSR's in 17" by 8" are around $325.00 a piece. I cant remember the exact price, but that was roughly it. I haven't quite decided. I originally wanted the BF Goodrich g-force KDW. Lately, I've heard mexed reviews on them. I may go with the trusty Kumho 712s that everyone raves about.

Yah, Passatvr6 is him...
Ive heard that they make a KD dry and KDW for all weather ... if its main goal is sticky and traction, maybe the KD's are better? Send me a picture of your car when/if you get them on.

I need to sell my second car so I can catch up to your mods

Oh and keep in mind the light-weight rims could be a pity to launch... I remember passatvr6 complaining about trying to launch his 12lbs track rims and how he could spin'em in first or second any time he wanted to.

Since this discussion concerns wheel weights, just thought I'd throw this out.
Volk TE37 17"x7.5": 15.0 lbs
SSR Competitions 17"x8": 14.3 lbs
Racing Hart CP-035 17"x8": 13.6 lbs
Just to get technical.

the grey spokes aren't as dark as shown on the site. I've got the Comps and the spokes are a very light grey, especially in the sunlight.

if u get the wheels,u'll be happy with the look/contrast on a black car.

Hmm

How would the comps look on a beige car?

Not a good combo (my opinion). Silver looks better on beige.
