Potenza RE92

For my 2002. Are these tires uni-directional? I didn't see any arrows saying which way the tires rotates. That means they can be mounted whatever way? DId I miss something?

If you have a grand to spare and care about wet weather performance, I'd suggest you replace those crappy RE92s ASAP with Pilot Sport All/Seasons.

Practically anything is better than the Potenza RE-92s. I'd go with Nitto 450s before I'd buy another set of RE-92s. And yes, the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's are the best tires you can buy in size 225/50R17.

I think I may prefer my winter tires to the RE92s!

The Michelins are on my to-do list this month.

Why hasn't anyone answered his original question? I don't think those are directional tires, but doesn't the tire industry frown on cross-rotating just about any radial tire nowadays? I think it strictly depends on who you ask, but maybe someone out there knows where to find a definitive answer.

And yes, the RE92s are a terrible, TERRIBLE tire. My Toyo winter tires handled/rode better in every respect.

RE92's are not unidirectional

look at the tread pattern...

Speed ratings (H, V, Z, W, etc.) do not necessarily mean anything as far as directional tread patterns...most DO have some kind of directional design, but it is not a function of the rating...

The manual for my 2002 indicates they should only be rotated front to rear. This would seem to suggest that Nissan doesn't recommend side to side rotation, or that they have a asymetrical tread pattern.

If there is no directional arrow nor a discernable...

'direction' to the tread pattern, they are not unidirectional.

As mentioned here...

http://www.1010tires.com/tiretech-tirerotation.asp

"Rotation patterns differ depending on what kind of vehicle you drive. The best place to check is in your vehicle's owners manual. If you can not find what you are looking for, below are some diagrams showing you the most common patterns."

Nissan may have their reasons for a specific rotation pattern, but it is not due to the RE92 being directional...

What do you mean trade out? Can I do this? RE92s suck.

Sorry to get off the original point, but what's the verdict on the Nitto 450's?

They have a much more aggressive tread pattern than the RE92's, and though I haven't priced them in this size, I assume they're less expensive. And they are still M+S-rated for us Northerners.

Sorrry to digress my friend, I've heard (haven't ridden on them) that the Nittos are noticeably better than the RE92s but don't compare to the Michellin. If you're staying stock, I'd try to squeeze the money and put em on Michellins, but if money's a problem, get the Nittos and let us know how you like em! Good luck!

How is that gonna work. I went and test drove a 2k2 6 speed at Continetal nissan and asked if i purchased the car if they would credit me for the tires and then I would buy my own(Pilots). They said they cant do it.

i have the nitto450s. they handle pretty nice. however, they sound like im driving a 4x4. the tread noise is horrible. really loud when the windows are down. as soon as i got the cash, im upgrading to the michelins.

That's interesting. I just put a set of Nitto 450s on my wife's 2K GXE and I don't hear any more road noise than I did with the RE-92s. Maybe it gets worse as the tread wears down . . .
