Sunlit Sand Max. with Konig Tantrums pict.

http://www.sweetcar.org/maxNewWheelsSmall.JPG

Please help with one question:
At low speeds of 20 mph or less, the car(steering) is affected by the road condition. The car will pull left or right with uneven roads. This was not as pronounced on my original wheels/tires. Is this normal with the wider wheels/tires (original 205/65/15, new 235/45/17)?

The wheels/tires are new. Wheels mounted with 66.1 hub ring and torqued to 80#.

What kinda tires did you get? Some tires require them to rotate a certain direction. When I mounted mine I put 2 of them going the wrong direction, this caused my car to pull to the left. Once I corrected this the pull stopped.

I had this same rims with 235/45/17 on 17X8 Tantums on my sunlit sand that crashed on 10/07/01. To get the best out of it, you need to drop your car with lowering springs, try Eibachs or something else of your choice. THIS IS MY X CAR/SUNLIT SAND TAKE A VIEW OF THE TANTRUMS

I was very careful to mount the tires with the correct direction of rotation. The car drives straight as an arrow on smooth and flat roads. It's only when I encounter rough roads that the car pulls to one side or the other. I know this happens, but the new setup is SO much more noticeable.

pretty normal with lower profile tires i think. i noticed a difference just with newer tires, going from 225/50 r17 to 235/45 r17. it definitely tracks more and is more sensitive to road conditions. that's the price you pay for higher performance --> less comfy.

It's normal to notice an increase in the tendency to follow imperfections in the road surface when you change to a wider tire with a high-performance tread pattern.
