question about factory exhuast
3" is to big unless your going to supercharge or turbo your max.I would go with the 2.5 inch.Y2kse is the man to ask.He was extremely helpfull for me and was very nice to.Ive learned it is better to have a custom shop make one for you for around 300.00(full cat back) rather than spending 500+ on a name brand exhaust.Well good luck and let us know what you decide and how it works out.

Thanks for the kind words, Norm. I'm not sure if lildanny61 is talking about the entire exhaust system or the muffler or the tips. Could you be a little more specific, lildanny61?

im talking about the muffler. my understanding of how the exhuast works is that idle, one hole is open. but when the car makes more exhuast, the valve inside of the exhuast opens up and opens the second hole. my question is how large are the holes in the muffler? i would like to keep the stock muffler if when both holes in the muffler are a combined 2.5-3 inches because i dont want a droning tone found with aftermarket exhausts.
I'd say the flow through the stock muffler is more than sufficient up to around 300hp, judging from numerous Org threads.
The hot tip is to swap in an aftermarket Y-pipe, where the biggest performance gain is realized, but keep the stock muffler for looks and quietness (if you're into the sleeper thing.)
