My Y2K SE 5 speed is my second Maxima. My first Maxima was a '92 SE 5-speed, which was totalled by my wife at 86K miles in March '98. She is OK and I've forgiven her. I had to, she let my buy the Y2K. The Y2K is my fourth Nissan. I've also owned a '79 Datsun 810 Wagon (the original Maxima) and a '82 Datsun 280ZX Turbo. My son owns a '96 Nissan 200SX SE 5-speed.
My sister and her husband own a '98 Infiniti I30 (auto) and a Y2K Maxima SE 5-speed. They have also owned numerous 240Z/260Zs.
I guess Nissans run in the family. :-)

95SE Auto
96GLE
95SE Stick
Then went non Nissan for 6months and got a 4Runner. Then last year got my 2K SE.
I just sold those other Maximas b/c I got tired of em. Give my 2K another year and I think i'll be done with it by then, time to move on to better things.

Had a 99 Red SE-L 5-speed
It was nice. Like it better than my 2K. It was fully decked out with options. Had Stillen muffler, strut bar, and intake, until I flipped it about five times going 80 on the interstate. Miraculously no serious injuries except couple of scratches. The car was totalled beyond recognition.
Had to get another one. The car literally saved my life!

Hat Trick...
Started off in 1996 with Black GXE...Very strong engine but traded in at 73,400 miles (over lease miles) for a 1999 Black SE. After 16 months of ownership and 38,000 miles on another lease I couldn't get enough of the sweet V-6 so I traded again on this 2001 Black SE. This time NO LEASE!!

My wife bought an '86 Maxima SE shortly after we met in '90. I was jealous. It was black with tan cloth interior and a 5 spd. It had the "old school" boxy look to it. We had to replace the transmission, and the muffler seemed to rust out every year and a half, but other than that is was a very nice car which served us well. It had over 150k miles on it and was starting to rust from 8 years of MN winters, so we sold it in '98 so she could get a minivan. I saw it a few weeks after we sold it with dark tinted windows, chrome add on trim over the wheel wells (to hide the rust), and a for sale sign in it. I guess the guy was trying to make a quick buck. Anyway, my wife loves her minivan, but likes to borrow my Max from time to time to run errands without the kids.

3RD MAXIMA NOW!!!
Ever since I've moved from Europe in 94, being only 17 I got my first car which was 92 SE Silver metallic/ black interior, Bose. auto. Then my mom was driving back then 93 SE dark metallic blue, auto it was fully loaded with black interior again. Decided she wanted 98 model, so I got hers. Finally turned 21 now and decided I want something my own. No more auto and cloth...5 spd, black leather

This is my first Maxima or a Nissan vehicle. I had leased an Acura Integra before. I had to upgrade to a V-6, 4-bangers are too weak! Though I like the power, I've have had so many problems with my Nissan Max I wish I had purchased something else.

They say something like 80% of maxima drivers would buy another one.
Thx.

Ryals...did you actually scroll all the way back to 2000 to find this?
Oh and BTW...I briefly had a 2000 before getting my 2003...loved the car but was paying way too much for it used and luckily I was able to sidestep into a new 2003 for less money in the end. And yes, I would get another Maxima...but definitely not a 6th gen.

This is my first Max(03) but my second Nissan. I love the car and plan to never sell it but it will probably be my last Maxima if the 6th gen is indicative of where the Maxima is heading in design and performance. 6th gen isn't a bad car, it's just starting to go in a different direction than I would like to see in a Maxima.

My 1st Maxima, moved down from a 00 S4 that I was leasing and the turbo blew up on at the track taking out the whole engine at the same time-20K dollar repair. At the time I worked at Audi as a mechanic, got rid of the lease..... drove my old trusty 93 SE-R Turbo for quite some time, it was getting on my nerves in traffic with 100F temps, high humidity, with no AC in the car and no cats.... So I went to Nissan and got me a 5spd GXE Max for 20K out the door even. Then I got a 90 SE 5spd, drove that like I stole it for months, sold it with 300K miles on the odo, I did a tune up on it, clutch, all new injectors. Car is still runing like a champ with about 340K miles on it- friend has it. Unless Nissan does something with the 6th gen, I'm not buying another Maxima... I tend to keep my cars till they just decay.
