Missing cover for fuel pipe.
Missing cover for fuel pipe.
I noticed the other day when looking under the wheel well of the left rear tire that I can see the fuel pipes. There is no plastic cover that covers them.
That explains why I have so much crap and dirt near the fuel cap, everytime I fill up.
I remember this was discussed before, I think I hade that plastic cover on my 2000 Maxima, but on 2002 SE I don't have it. There is even holes that look like are for that plastic cover.
Should I go and tell the dealer to give me that damn cover? Anybody had this done?
I still can't belive that when they assemble the car they forget to put simple things like that.

Re: Re: Missing cover for fuel pipe.
That's really strange. I mean that part of the car is identical to 2000-2001 Maxima. And plus I saw the holes where that cover would snap in.
Hmm, I quess I will ask the dealer. I will also try to look at other 2002 Maximas and see if any of them have it.

One thing to try is to go to the parts counter and have the guy bring up the diagrams on his screen. IF the diagrams show the part in place, then you might have a good argument to get them to warranty it. All your dealer really needs is something they can put in Nissan's face to claim the warranty work.
Re: Missing cover for fuel pipe.
tain't no design change!
I had it missing from my '01 as well. I got the part number from a thread, brought it to my Nissan service guys, they ordered it, installed it, and apologized all under warranty. I don't have the part number, but search for it - it's out there. This def takes care of the road grime in the fuel cap area phenom.
Don't be suckered into paying for anything. Half the cars have 'em, half don't - but all should. Methinks some guy on the line is lazy.
