i bought the ashtray and lighter accesorry, does anyone know how to install the lighter. or can someone send me a link where i can find instructions thanks

 

Don't you just pop it in the hole?

 

Maybe it's a flame thrower type lighter...I would be careful if I were you!!

j/k...yeah, remove the plastic 12v plug and insert the lighter filament...

 

no u dont just the pop it in the hole it is a different size i need to take apart plastic around the automatic shifter but i cant the take out the ashtray piece and im not talking about the storage compartment im talking about the whole piece

 

There are two ways:
1)Follow the "How To" sticky for my 2K2 shifter console install to remove it from the back through the front.

2)Buy a T-shaped tool from a parts store, they usually only sell it with a new lighter socket though, to push in the two plastic tabs holding it and remove through the front.

The second option is easier if you can get the tool.

 

i tried to hold the two tabs in the ashtray and pull in out but the would not come out. thanks ill get the tool tommorow. do u know how much nissan would charge if they would do install it

 

Ashtray? You mean lighter socket right?

If it won't come out by pushing in the two tabs, you'll have to try the tool. You have to push in the North/South tabs at the SAME time, while pulling just the metal portion(NOT the black plastic piece). Once the metal piece is removed, it should come free, but then again, I did it withOUT the tool and with the console removed.

If you have an autoMAGIC then my directions won't help remove the console, but it will help remove the socket.

 

i think im doin something wrong. im trying to remove the ashtray compartment and from there take off the plastic piece that surrounds the automatic shifter from the remove the 12v socket and install the new lighter
