Doesn't one of the Nissan Trucks have a Roots Type supercharger? Does that have the 3.5 engine also???

I doubt you could use it in a max.

And why isn't it possible to use another super or turbo from a different car and make an adapter?

Probably right, the engine in the Max is sideways because of front wheel drive.

Oh ya. And it's the Xterra that has the optional supercharger. And its also a 3.5L engine. (you were right)... I wish it would fit. I would go far enough to have a custom made hood to make it fit... doubt it would work still though.

A Roots blower would be awesome on the max. They make so much power at low RPMs it is ridiculous.

A positive displacement supercharger, like the Jackson Supercharger (Eaton), or the supercharger on a Ford Lightning. Instant boost, not dependent on engine rpm like a Vortech or Paxton.

I bought a Kenne Bell (Whipple/Autorotor type) supercharger for my Mustang 2 years ago. I went from 13.7's @99mph to 12.6's at 109mph. It added about 100 rear wheel HP with 5 psi of boost. I get 5psi of boost as fast as I can floor the gas pedal. I do not have to rev to 5000 to get the boost. I have pulleys for 8 and 10 psi, but have not tried those yet (it is a little scary with 5psi, floor it at 30mph and it starts going sideways). With my kit you are supposed to get 7% hp increase for every 1 psi increase of boost.

Jackson makes many honda kits and some for the Focus also. I have emailed them to see if there is any plans for a Maxima but never got a response.

That Max has enough low end power already. With more torque down low, you'll be spinning off the line (we're fwd so traction is a huge concern).

What we need is power up top via centrifugal SC (i.e. Vortech).

It would still make just as much top end as the vortec. You would probably need slicks to get the most out of it though.

Would probably have more torque at 6psi than the Vortec does at 9psi.

I have about 400 ft pounds of torque from about 2500 rpms up on the Mustang with 5psi.

Fitting would probably be an issue as they are usually larger than the vortec types.

Imagine being in 5th gear on the highway cruising at 2500 rpms and nailing the throttle and immediately (without downshifting to 3rd) having 6psi of boost and being thrown back in your seat. That is what the Roots blowers are good for.

I e-mailed them a while back and got a response. Unfortunately they're not even remotely considering SC's for Nissan's.

Yeah, you guys can hit full boost with that early on compared to Vortech's linear boost.

From what I've seen/read (if it matters ), increasing boost with Vortech will give more hp than with a roots blower... if only we can get someone to make a turbo kit.

Yeah, the Vortechs have a higher efficiency than the roots. We are probably lucky that we even have one choice for a supercharger. It doesn't appear that the Maxima is high priority for many aftermarket companies.

How many supercharged Max's do we even have on this board?

BTW, have you taken your car to the track?

The mod market is just not large enough for companies to develop new products. The Max seems to be geared towards older, married males... and I doubt they have that "I'll mod my Maxima" metality.

I believe we have about 6 supercharged 5th gens and a bunch of supercharged 4th gens (probably 20+).

Haven't taken the car to the track yet. We're waiting for Turbo95Max to tune his car before we go.

I am 31 and married, and I can't leave anything stock. Although I would assume I am a minority.

Even if I was married, had/have kids, and older, I don't think I would be able to leave anything stock either.

Yup, when I need my speed fix, I jump on my bike and crank off a couple triple digit runs to appease the adrenaline gods. It gets bad when you are so pumped up you do the dotted line passing and other bad stuff that rice rockets are known/hated for...

I too wish there was a turbo kit for the max Might just have to plunk down the bling bling and have one specifically made for my car....like thats gonna happen! She is in charge of the finances now...
