Right Front Strut
I have a crunching sound coming from the right front suspension of my 2001 SE 5sp. Sounds like stressing metal on metal. It only crunches when I am turning, at slow speeds, and under power at the same time (clutch engaged). Local Nissan dlrshp has spent about 8 hours diagnosing including 3 trips to my house to hear it live. They've used the electronic "ears" to try to measure tension in the suspension to find out if any components are under too much stress. Negative. They finally replaced the strut. No changes, noise still there. Nissan america has no answers for them and the TSB on the strut noise does not apply to this problem per Nissan. HELP. Anyone out there have similar situation or advice on where to have Nissan look. Ball joint? Motor mount? Control arm bushings? The dealership has bent over backwards trying to diag. this, but still searching.
Answers anyone???

I believe most all Maximas have this problem. I took mine to the dealer and had the right front strut replaced also. But the noise is still there under the same circumstances you mentioned. I'm just living with it. It's unusual to find a dealer that went through so much to try to fix the problem for you.

Re: Right Front Strut
On my 2000 SE, I had this replaced. They replaced the whole strut assemble and strut mount bushing. The bushing is actually the cause of the noise. It rips for some reason. After they did the fix the noise went away. I think for some reason it came back after a year or so.
My 2002 SE doesn't seem to be making any sounds of this kind, but I do get some strange exsessive suspension noise when going over bumps.
Anybody with 2002 SE noticed some noises comming from suspension when going over bumps?

I have a2k 5spd and I also have noises coming from my right front suspension. I have been to the dealership several times and the noises are still there. Theyhave replaced my sway bar links and my upper strut seat. I wish they could figure out what is wrong.

I have had the same exact problem in my 2K1 after about 10k miles. After 3 trips back to the dealer they finally figured out it was the passenger side swaybar link. The changed it and now no more clunking. The dealer finally fixed one of my problems. Still have tranny and lack of power problems but that's a whole different thread!! Hope this helps.

I got the same problem under the same conditions, but it doesn't happen all the time and the dealer won't fix it cause I can't produce it when it counts and they claim that they don't "hear anything" when they test drove it.
