I had it done but can't really say it was necessary either. I've floored the max several times before w/o any problem.
It took them roughly 45 minutes to do it (and this was on a busy Saturday morning)

I just had it done and I saw the new part before the install. The recall mandates a slightly taller and wider accelerator stopper of a moderately different design. The change is virtually imperceptable to the eye.
However, the gas pedal is recalibrated as part of the recall and the total movement of the pedal has been somewhat shortened. I actually prefer the pedal feel after the change since the total range of motion of the pedal is less. This means two things: I can reach full throttle more quickly (since the overall throw is less) and small movements of the pedal translate into slightly greater variances in the accelerator position sensor meaning that the pedal is a little more sensitive (since the overall range of motion is less). Also, when the pedal is floored, it "feels" better - there's no other way to describe it but in this way. For these reasons, I highly recommend getting the update.
