Place Racing Cool Air intake. I was wonder if you ran into any problems (ie installation or check engine lights)? My reason for asking is my friend's cousin is thinking about getting one for his 2k1 and all the local performance shops told him that it will set off the check engine light. I was just wondering if they was any truth to that statement?

Thanks

If you do it correctly (i.e. don't accidentally grind up the wires) then the light should not come on.

I didnt get a check engine light. The only thing I didnt like about it was the creaky noise I would get as the engine rocks under load due to the lower intake tube rubbing on the hole that is goes though. Plus, I didnt find the CAI to make any more power than he underhood intake (thus reversing my previous assertions), so converted my CAI back into an underhood intake and called it quits. If I had to make a recommedation, Id do what someone else on the board did (4DSC??) and just make my own with a K&N filter and some clamps and save about $150 in the process.

AMEN!

I whipped one up for ~$90 and I'm really happy with it. You can view the install pics on my page.
