2000 SE Optional Wheel size?

The guy at the local tire shop measured my rims(17*...) before balancing them and told me they are 8" wide, and he entered this width into the machine.
Everybody here says it's 7"...
He measured them in front of me...what he could do wrong? or may be he was not wrong?

He could have been a complete retard like my tire guy is..... If it is a stock wheel, there is no question that it is a 7" width.

Well, he could be a retard, but I'm not I saw 8" on his measurement tool. All he did was he attached that tool to the sides of the wheel...it showed 8"...
