How long would it take to replace the tail lenses?
would there be a seal/leakage problem? A guy I know from the gym said he would trade me his 2001 tails for my clears. He has Sterling Mist so the clear looks good on his. I like smoked tails on the dark car. How long does it take? Can I find info/pics at 5thgen?
How long does it take to do the side markers?

about 30 mins..
its SOOO very simple... but the sealant is a mess. No seriously, the sealant is evil.. and nasty. the best way to get the sealant off is with duct tape. Nothing else will touch it.. You may need mineral spirits to get it off your hands if you touch it alot.
Call Dave B and order 2 sealant strips, ~$15 The write up calls for 1 strip per side, per set. This is for new lenses, your swapping so you'll already have a ton of sealeant. Seriously, a whole strip around (3 passes around a new housing) almost seems like too much. 1 pass around yours will probably do fine.
You cant really remove the old sealant very successfully off the lenses... but you can get it off the car body, and you should. Take the new sealant beads and make 1 or 2 passes around the lights before squishing them back in. Push them in slowly and with equal pressure. The 4 bolts can be tightened, each alittle (equally) at a time until the lens is seated. The bolts will tighten when the lamp is fully seated.
You will see the goo squish in around the housing, you will easily see if there is a gap. I doubt you would have one that causes a leak. Its very accessible, no surprises.

When I swapped out my stock tail lights for my painted ones, I used a hair dryer to soften up the sealant. It helped a lot. Without it, I probably wouldn't have gotten them off. Just use a hair dryer to get it off, it works. If you have any other questions, just ask.
