2K2 in Need of Pedals

Hey Guys,

Ok, so I have been searching around here for days now trying to understand exactly what everyone is doing with their 2K2's for pedals. I know the AE ones will fit, but what does it take to make them fit and does anyone have a pic of them installed on a 2K2? Is there any way to order the HSLD pedals from Nissan? And other than that, are there any REAL nice pedals that look the same that are maybe after market? I am really curious. You guys give great feedback, so I wondering what everyone else did

You Guys RULE!

I too want to put those AE pedals on my 2k2. The above link shows the AE pedals and sills on a 2002. They look really great!

The best price I found for the AE pedals was from Tustin Nissan who gives a 20-25% discount for ORG members. They quoted me $17.16 each for the brake and clutch pedals and $24.38 for the accelerator pedal. Total Cost: $58.70 plus shipping/tax.

I PMd a couple members who have done this upgrade and they say it is kind of a pain to get the brake and clutch pedal on but not too bad.

If you like the door sills, Tustin quoted 14.55 for each front sill and 12.92 for each of the rear sills. Total cost: $54.94 plus shipping/tax.

If you do it, let me know how the install goes. I am saving my pennies for making the first payment so will not be doing these upgrades for a couple of months.

Good Luck!

I would love the AE pedals, I am just wondering what is required for modifications or if an aftermarket brand may fit a little better and look a little nicer.

Any ideas?

I put the AE pedals on my 2k2 SE. They look incredible. One thing that helped putting on the clutch and brake pedal is to boil a pot of water and place the pedals in the water. This softens the rubber and they are extremely easy to put on then. Took me about 2 or 3 minutes per pedal.

Actually the accelerator pedal was not difficult, but remove the pedal from the shaft because it is made for the cable actuated gas pedal, not the electronic throttle. The shaft on the 2k2 is a little smaller, so just wrap it with something, I use bicycle inner tube or you can use electrical tape. Once you pull the old pedal off the accelerator shaft, you will understand what I am talking about. Total job for all three pedals was about 30 minutes.

Aggie,

Do you know if there is a write up somewhere on how to do it?

Basically what I posted above were the instructions from a discussion that I saw on the 5thgen site:

http://www.5thgenmaximas.com/vbb/sho...&threadid=1186

Hope that helps.

I have installed AE Pedals/Sills on my 2002 with no problems. But the gas pedal bar on the 2002 is smaller than the gas pedal bar on the AE. So you need to use something to "increase" the bar size where the black cap fits on the underside of the pedal

Now for the install...

Q: What works better than bicycle tape or electrical tape?

A: Black Heat Shrink Tubing

Now you ask, where can I get such a thing? Try your local Home Depot/Lowes, etc. Maybe even Radio Shack has it. You can cut it to size, and then shrink it to your gas pedal. Then you can install another layer (if needed) until the black stopper fits the pedal.

i used to have those pedals. theyre nice. i didnt like the type R logo on them though, so i took the tip of a mechanical pencil and carefully scraped it off. worked fine without scratching the chrome finish. i got rid of those pedals in favor of some similar ones in aluminum finish
