2k2 THROTTLE BODY CLEANING *DIRTY

When I took apart my intake tubing at 5,000 miles to put the frankencar intake in, I flipped open the TB "butterfly" with my finger, I wiped it around inside and it wasnt bad at all, no sludge or carbon, now at 13,700 miles, I did early schedule maintanance (15k) was the next, checked belts, hoses, lube chassis, locks, hinges etc., I went to take out my frankencar intake so I could check the TB manifold, I open the butterfly, stick my finger in, and pull out tons of black soot, not sludgy but bad enough to worry about performance, maybe its because the car is gettin more mileage, but at 13k no tb/injector cleaning is needed, but I want to clean it anyway, whats the best way to do this on my 2k2?? my old car was easy, i could spray carb cleaner in it and let it soak then wipe up the mess, then power it up and spray more in and blip the throttle, now with the digital throttle i cant do this and im afraid it'll stall!!!

HELP!

Searcj s you best friend. It's pretty simple and the directions are really easy to follow. My throttle body, at 40K was not very dirty at all. I think the facy that I only use Premium Super Unleaded contributes heavily to that. The hole process should take you 30 to 40 minutes.

yeah, I NEVER use lower than 93 octane, and chevron/exxon fuel, i've noticed a rapid dirt buildup in my TB manifold after i got the cone intake, perhaps breathing in un-restricted air=more dirty air breathed, I'll try to clean it tomorrow, but I did searches and I know how to do the cleaning now, but will it mess up any sensors/idle problems with my 2002 electrons ie. drive by wire, etc.

As long as you follow directions to the tee, you should have no problems whatsoever. FYI: You will have some nasty smoke come out of your muffler after you bolt everything back on. It will not last, don't worry. Just follow directions.

Its been proven performance aftermarket filters will pass through 3-4 times more dirt than stock filters would. (I remember reading an article with vacumm testing) Maybe that explains why it gets so dirty early?

Really? Then why does only the BACK side of the TB gets dirty and not both sides if you theory was true?

The back of the TB and beyond gets dirty because that's where the PCV gets dumped into.
