ABS light came on

Hi, My car currently has about 11,500 miles on it.
I was just driving down the road today, and all of sudden I saw the ABS light was on, don't know why.
After I restart the car again and the light went off
Should I worry about this at all?? Should I take it in to the dealer to check it?

The manual says to have it checked out. Seeing how you are still under warranty it makes the most sense to do that. You could check your brake fluid level first but I suspect more than the ABS light would have gone on in that case.

Thanks
BTW, the only mods I have is Frankencar intake & FTSB, should I take them off before I go in?? I don't think that would effect ABS though

If your Maxima was built in the fall of 2001 it's probably a defective left rear ABS sensor. It's normal for the ABS light to go on and off intermittently. Based on my experience with the problem the ABS light will actually stay off most of the time even though the sensor is defective.

I had this problem on my new 2k2 wit 2000 miles. It was the left rear wheel speed sensor. Quick fix at the dealer. The problem was getting the part. After waiting 2 weeks, the tech took one off a new 2k2 on the lot. hope thet replaced it.

What is up with this backorder on parts?
Took the dealer 1 1/2 months for them to get my sunroof parts that was broken

Backordering seems to be the norm. IMO the warranty customer is viewed as low priority. You're getting the replacement part for free so what's the big deal if you have to wait ? Both my ABS sensor and Bose unit were backordered. Just another reason why Nissan ranks so low in customer satisfaction.

God bless the search function!

My ABS Sensor light came on this evening. When I stopped the car and restarted it, the light went off. My car is still under warranty, so I'll take it to my dealer to have it checked out. And of course I'll point to the left rear ABS sensor and left rear speed sensor as possible sources of the problem.

Thanks guys!

ABS Light AGAIN!!!

Well, after another low spped stop, I heard a loud groan, and then the ABS light came on. My 2k2 is 4 months 6000k old and this is the second time the ABS Facked up.
I should have known when the dealer got the parts from a new 2k2 on the lot to fix mine, it was going to go bad again.
I guess I should just make an appointment now for when the system malfunctions again in a couple of months. I feel like I bought a FORD MAXIMA instead of a Nissan.

yeah..

that wasnt too bright of them.. obviously you got the same part replaced, not the revised one. Of course the other option was to wait months for a new one..

Here's another tidbit for you. When I had my LEFT rear ABS sensor replaced the factory rep was present to observe and take the defective ABS sensor with him. He commented to us that the RIGHT rear ABS sensor also has an abnormal failure rate but not as high as the left rear ABS sensor.
