Where did you hear of anything like that? Sounds like horse**** to me. No Gap = No Spark

Also called surface gap spark plugs. The 2 stroke bike guys started playing with them in the late 60's - early 70's as a way to beat electrode erosion. This is the first mention I have heard since. I don't think they ever penetrated the car market (ignitions weren't really that hot back then). As I recall Champion made several heat ranges. Given the quality and durability of modern platinums I would be hesitant to try unless they were pretty cheap.

I seem to remember reading they weren't such a good idea because they leave leave very little exposure of the spark to the air/fuel mixture. They last a long time, but poor "spark", so to speak.

Modern platinum plugs are superior because they allow hot (as in heat range) plugs and still last a long time yet have great exposure to fuel.

There was a company at SEMA show earlier this year or was it last year, regardless a few months ago, a company from Czech republic displayed a gapless plug. I have a set somewhere, its for a Honda, but obviously I don't work on Hondas.

I need a digicam for this.
