Apexi Intake is done - pics

I just finished the first Apexi intake sample. It is not as simple as a basic filter swap as there are additional parts needed. My first impressions are that I feel a bit more power all through the power range, but I only drove about 10 miles so far. I'm inviting a few of you to try this new variation of the Berk Tuning intake. We are not switching over to a new filter but this only being done on a trial basis.

The Apexi kit will consist of:

-Apexi Universal Filter
-2 6061 Aluminum adaptors, polished (one for MAF, one for Apexi filter)
-4" section of double walled, braided, hi temp silicone hose
-304 stainless steel mounting plate, polished

Pricing - $119 + $8 shipping.

I will have a link for payments up shortly, or you can forward the amount via paypal to sales@berktuning.com

for ppl already have berk intake, can we just buy the second aluminum piece, the hose and the filter? or the MAF adapter is different than the original berk intake?

is the Apex filter an oil filter?

thx

Yes, the Apexi is not the cheapest solution but it is a VERY nice unit. Kind of like the law of diminishing returns ya know... do you remember Econ, I think I slept through it that day.

Where am I physically, in so cal.

I dont care what anybody says, Im not Washing my filter, no matter what it is. If I just spent almost 30K for a car, why not pay 40-70 bucks for a filter every 15K - 20 K miles.. Am I wrong ?

I have already purchased the berk intake and I dun want my K&N sitting in the garage. To me, it is kinda a waste.

what's going to convince me is the out standing performance and filtration ability plus quality of this filter. Paper filter has a limited sized of pores compared with oil filter. But it should have better quality air filtered thru compared with oil filter.

so kloogy, u have moster filter from franken. u r not going to wash it but replace it?

bryan....is there another price for ppl who already purchased the berk intake?

I think we only need another MAF adap. silicon tubing and the Apexi filter.

thx

No your not wrong, I also though that washing the air filter kinda weird, I will buy another one instead.

The only question is, what filter will you buy? For those of us who are going to replace our filters rather than clean them, my feeling is that we ought to purchase the best filter available. I suspect the best filter is the A'PEXi filter. The problem is, Bryan hasn't told us how much the kit would cost to convert an existing Berk Intake to accept the A'PEXi filter nor has he told us how much the replacements filters cost.

Earth to Bryan. Earth to Bryan. Come in Bryan. Over . . .

I thought I did??? Must have been on a different thread. Anyhow, just the replacement Apexi with the harware needed to attach it will be $89+8 shipping. I know it's a lot but the Apexi is not a cheap filter. Or you guys can have new K&N's like the ones that came in the kit for $29.50+6 shipping.

Yeah, I figured it would be something like that. Interestingly, you STILL haven't told us what the A'PEXi replacement filter costs all by itself, but I'm figuring it will run in the $60.00 to $70.00 range. It's hard to justify paying that much for a filter when you can purchase a K&N for under $30.00. Still, for those people who are afraid of oiled or "tackified" air filters, the price delta may be worth it.

25 for the K&N shipped looks like the way to go

Coby, are you still working on a mid pipe for the original Berk intakes?

Well, $29.50 + $6.00 shipping, actually. But what's another $10.50 between friends.

I second kloogy's response. I'd rather buy a new filter instead of going through the hassle of cleaning a filter, possibly damaging it, waiting for it to dry and putting it back on. Just spend the bucks and get a new one. After all, if Maxima owners were cheap, we wouldn't be Maxima owners.

If you already have the Frankencar midpipe there is no reason for you to buy mine. I'd like to sell you one but it won't give you any performance increases. The only difference is that mine is polished stainless steel or polished aluminum and his is powder coated galvanized steel.
