Dude, at the top of this page there is a huge thread about cleaning your Max. Tons of useful info in there. By the time you get done you will have many answers.

It is recommended and advised, that you dont wax the car when it has just been painted. It is said to take the shine away from the paint.

Well when you do wax it..I'm pretty fanatical about always washing and rewaxing the car, and definitely putting two coats on each time, especially the roof and hood during the summer months. I've always been in a struggle to find a good wax that goes on easy, but more importantly, comes off easy. This last time (about 2 weeks ago) I used I think it was called Meguir's GOLD or something. It comes in a triangular shaped box, with the black bottle inside. Not too sure about the protection, but I tell you, usually on the drive from home back up to school (Daytona to Atlanta) my car doesn't look like it's just been super detailed. Yet, it's almost 2 weeks later, and it's looking amazing, and just shining. I'd take a picture to show you, but it's sorta dark outside, so maybe in the morning. Most important, the wax came off pretty easy. In taking it off, I just use some nice cotton cloths, and a lot of elbow power! Megiur's also has time tire stuff..it's purple, and really liquidity, and smells a ton like grapes, and it's stood up to the 2 weeks and some bad rain storms here, and the tires still look great. Not sure if it's good or not, but also used some of it and applied to the rubber around the sunroof, and that sunroof deflector thing, as it looked like that rubber was starting to look "old" or whatever. I love it when my max is lookin good, makes all the sweat worth it!!!

I am also a fanatical cleaner. I cant stand having my car dirty. I am so bad that I spend 23.00 + tip at the car wash around three times a week. I Highly recommend the Meguiar Waxs. I personally use the Express wax and then the Final Detailer. The Final Detailer is a liquid you spray on the car, that you then take off with a terry cloth. To avoid the swirl marks, make sure you wash your car to remove all the dirt from it. That is usually what causes the swirl marks.

I also bought the Meguiars Gold when I first got my Max. I wanted to wax it right away and didn't want to wait for my order from Zaino Bros to come in. For my first wax job I washed the car, then put on a coat of 3m imperial hand glaze and then waxed using the Meguiars Gold. It looked sweet. But in the future I will be using Zaino as it is supposed to look even better.

I've used many wax's over the years, everything from turtle wax, meguiar's, armor all, simoniz and Zaino. Zaino and meguiar's are by far the best. In order of preference, I prefer the Zaino over the Meguairs.

Go here and get the Z you won't go wrong with it.

http://www.zainobros.com/index.shtml

I would recommend the basics of Z2(sealant), Z5(polisher), Z6(Quick Detail), ZFX(speeds up drying time) or Z1. You may want to get the clay also.

Also, get you some good Microfiber or 100% cotton made in the USA towels to dry and detail the car with, to help prevent scratches and swirls.

You should not wax new paint until it has set up, I have always waited at least 30 days. I use Meguiars products exclusively. I use
their Medallion line, it is about twice the price of the Gold. I use an orbital dual action buffer with their foam pads. Use deep pile white cotton towels to wipe off after buffing. Works great!

Yeah, used to be they told you not to wax for 3 to 6 months after a repaint. You need to let the paint cure.

Don't know if that's still true today with water based paints and clearcoats. Probably best to ask one of the manufacturers.

I just finished waxinig my car about 10 minutes ago.I tried the Meguiars gold and it looks SSSAAAAWWWWWWEEEEETTTTTT.Goes on super easy and comes off just as easy. For my older cars I use Zymol cleaner wax 2-3 times a year and that works great also but remember its a cleaner wax so do not use it to often.Oh and if your paint is that fresh I would recomend waiting a couple of months for it to cure.Good luck.

Only one thing I can say to that...SSSAAAAWWWWWWEEEEETTTTTT. Question to all you waxers though, when I'm doing it, and get to my front bumper, boy do I get really upset. Is anyone else's front bumper just totally filled with marks, and like little pot holes, I don't know from rocks or what? In all honesty, it's starting to spread up the hood, well I'd say I have about 3-4 chips on the first 1 inch of the hood, same kind of stuff that's on the bumper. What's up with this Nissan? I've never seen a 2-3 year old car's front bumper look as bad as mine...and I'm almost 100% sure that I've taken better care of mine than all the other cars I've seen. Anyone else have this same problem?

I think I can speak for 99% of the Org members when I say EVERYONE has that problem with the paint. It down right BLOWS.The only solution to that is an ugly black bra which will cause more damage if you don't maintain it properly(sand and dirt between the bra and paint acts like sandpaper) or a clear bra which is more expensive but protects your car and keeps the stock look. But if you already have that many chips and dings then spending the 3+ bills on a clear bra is like re-aranging the furniture on the Titanic.Good luck

You know, now that I think about it, I almost remember seeing a petition to Nissan about paint or something, and it actually might have been about this problem. Does anyone know about that, or what happened with Nissan, or nothing? Just curious. It's a shame the max is so great, yet has such a simple problem like this.

Well....

In a nutshell, I have 2-3 different waxes in my "stash." I have 2 different types of Meguiar's Waxes and my Pinnacle Souveran. Needless to say, I use my Pinnacle Souveran more these days because it's easier to apply and the shine is unbelieveable.

Now, wait until I put Klasse on it and then top it with Souveran. You will need shades.

Other waxes I would recommend are Pinnacle Paste Glaz, P21s (gives you the durability of Blitz and the sheen of Souveran), Meguiar's #26, One Grand Blitz (Very Durable).

it should be noted that the wax should be applied in straight vertical motions instead of circular motions to prevent the too many "swirls marks" from appearing after the wax. It worked for me, I forgot where I read that.

See this http://www.meguiars.com/product_show...ne=CP&SrcCat=5

It's usually used after washing to preserve the "just waxed" look longer. I use a similar product, Eagle One's WET Wipe 'n' Shine.

Meguiar's Quick Detailer is a "touchup" product. It works GREAT for removing bugs, tar, bird poop, water spots, etc.. FAST before they have a chance to really bond with your paint.

I try and keep a bottle in the trunk with some SUPER SOFT 100% cotton cloths from Griots' Garage(His stuff is expensive, but it's the BEST with a money back guarantee) for emergencys.

The Quick Detailer somewhat enhances the gloss and makes the paint smoother by coating the surface, which makes dust come off a lot easier with a California Duster(A MUST for keeping my Max looking clean between washes).

So far, I've ONLY used Meguiar's Gold Products and I'm pretty happy. However, I'm starting to notice sun swirl marks, so I'm thinking of trying the Zaino Bro products to see what all the hoopla is about. All the different choices in Zaino # this and # that kinda makes me hesitant that I'll do everything right. I've screwed up my BLACK Sentra by using products I didn't use right, so I've stuck with the Meguiar's gold since you really can't do it wrong. Plus, it's only $10 for the wax and like $7 for a Gallon of the car wash, which you can find ANYWHERE so there isn't any ordering hassles.

Now if I can just figure out how to REMOVE water spots from my windows. I've tried everything I can think of and NOTHING makes them disappear. The sun dries the water so fast I don't have enough time to prevent them, so I need a way to remove them withOUT spraying crap all over my paint.

Anyone have any tips?

I'm going to reENTER the Detailing Thread so expect me to be gone for a month or two weeding through all that stuff.
