Has anyone noticed this on a 2K2 SE automatic?
When sitting at a red light or stop sign in drive with the brakes applied, I feel a jerking or bumping sensation through the driver’s seat. It feels as though the car has a rough idle. The car runs fine otherwise and I can’t detect any performance problems.
Any ideas on this one?

If it is a jerking when braking in the front, it is your front rotars. To check if it is jerking from the back, go about 10mph and push your emergency brake up slowly and see if the back jerks. If it does, GO TO NISSAN and get free rotars!

I used to feel the same thing on my GLE, weird, I never paid much attention to it, I was gonna mention it to them at the 3250 service. But now the car is totalled.
SE 6 spd. coming soon.

Re: Pulsing
I have the same "pulsing" in my idle. The "pulsing" was bad when I first got the car, but it seems to have died down a little now; although I can still sense it.
I'm not sure what it is, does the 6-speed do this?

Mine is the same. It idles so low at a dead stop once it is warmed up, I think the fact that it is idling at 500 rpms or less may have something to do with it... But it is a little rough, but I am a perfectionist so I notice these silly things, I am sure it is harmless.
I get the same thing. Its more of a slight tremor every few seconds at idle. My 240sx did the same thing.
I also noticed that there is a vibration transered from the engine thru the gas pedal at around 2800 rpm. Anything higher or lower and it disapears. Go figure

i also feel a tiny bit of a rough idle sometimes, but i have a 6 speed... when i leave it in neutral and im standing still, sometimes you feel the engine a little. on most new cars you cant even tell the car is running..
when i brought my car in today the tech said i should make an appointment for them to check out the idle, so ill see what happens. its also possible that the car needs an oil change because they say you should do the first oil change early, because of the particles that let out of a new engine and all of that

Did this guy actually read the post first?
"Its more of a slight tremor every few seconds at idle."
Exactly what my car does. I have a 2002 GLE with just over 1000 miles on it, and this tremor started occuring around mile 600 or so. Very slight though, and I've definitely experienced it in higher end cars are well...so as long as it doesn't get too much worse, I dont think that we should worry. I did my first oil change at around mile 950, and it hasn't really alleviated this.

its probably just the engine. put it in neutral and see if it still does it. on an automatic, the engine is never disengaged, so its trying to push the car, but the brakes arent letting it. i read that in super street somewhere. if it doesnt do the same in neutral, then its just cuz the max has such a large engine.
My dad had a 4th gen auto and it did the same thing. I recall that the idle speed was about 500 which is really too low. At faster idle on a cold start, the car was never rough. On my 5th gen, I notice the idle is slightly faster and I don't get the same sensation. Is there a difference between the idle speed of the autos and manuals?
auto 2002 gle - idles at 700 to 750 when warm. dont know about sticks

I have a little pulse here and there, I always figured it was becuase of the intake but now I don't know. It does not really bother me buch, althought it scares me a little becuase of bad memorys of my 98 I30(staling problems).
I have had this happen to me also. I just did a old school trick of puting a strip of paper over the tail pipe(while hot). If at any point the paper gets sucked slightly back into the tail section then its a case of a small misfire. After I tested my car it tried to pull it in on a few ocasions so I just upgraded to to platium spark plugs and the problem went away. Note-Make sure its not idling to low, are else this will cause a small misfire also. 700-800 rpm will be ok. This trick works on all engines.

I read in some mag that the idle speed on cars is being set extra low these days to help with emissions so that could be part of it, especially on automatics where you always have a load. My Accord V6 sorta did something like this when I had it. Every once in awhile you would feel a sort of bump or pulse but it wasn't rhythmic or predictable or anything. After upgrading to Denso Iridium plugs I never had the problem again, but the stock plugs on Accord V6's are the crappy "100,000 mile before tune-up" garbage variety and not NGK's like on the Maxima.
Do you guys still have this problem with the A/C OFF? Low idle for emissions + automatic tranny load + A/C compressor drag can lead to a lumpy and sorta rough idle I guess...

Anyone figure anything out on this
Did anyone with the pulsing issue ever resolve the problem?
My 2k2 6-spd is currently in at the dealer trying to get this rough idle thing resolved. Its pretty much the same symptoms described here.
Irregular pulses, of varying intensity which seem to be coming from the engine. I don't see a jump in RPM, nor do I hear anything, but I definitely feel it. I only feel it when I am sitting at a stop, car in neutral, foot off the clutch, waiting for the light to change.
Most of the pulses are pretty mild, but occasionally they are strong enought that passengers ask me what's wrong with my car. Its kinda embarrassing, given the price of this vehicle.
I took it in before for the same problem and they changed all 6 coils, but the problem persisted.

I had thought it was this way back when, so I totally shut off the climate control and radio, and the pulses were still there.

You know, I have about 1600 miles on my I35 and the only kind of pulsing effect I feel (which I noticed in a parking lot yesterday) occurs when I have the A/C on. The pulsing bothered me, so to experiment I shut the A/C off and it went away.

I have about 3500 miles on my car and no pulse or rough idling at full stop on "Drive", idling at around 600rpm. However I never turn on my A/C (I don't like the idea of having like 30% of my power being sucked up
).
I usually feel a pulsing at an idle stop when the a/c is on in my other cars tho.

BUT what ****es me off is that it doesn't do it all the time. It didn't used to do it when I bought it and after around 1200-1500 miles, it started to do it. The car was babied all the way thru break-in. I was wondering if has anything to do with the brand/reformulated gas we get here in the Midwest. I always use Mobil 93. have tried different Mobil stations. Maybe I will try filling it up with Shell or Amoco. Buddy of mine doesn't feel anything like that in his 2001 SE...

2k2 auto w/ 25oo mi. I have noticed that my bumpy idle (stopped at light) has smoothed out with age. It's getting better, but I DEFINITELY noticed it when it was brand new...
My 2K2 6spd has the infamous lopey idle as well. One day when I drove back home after an hour or so of driving, I parked and raised the hood with the engine still running. You could see the engine itself shaking a little. I'm not talking about shaking uncontrolably, but it did have a prominent jutter. So its either the idle is too low, or the motor mounts aren't designed properly.
