Recall Notice! In mail Today 5/20/02

Hey Gang!

I recieved a recall notice in the mail, today (Yellow Post Card) from my dealership (Troncalli Nissan in Decatur, Georgia) warning me to take my car in for an issue regarding a safety component correction. I looked at the card an it has a modification number of P8152.

The card says I was notified by nissan before but I have yet to recieve any documents since I bought the car new in August 2000.

Did I miss something? is this an Old recall? an no it doesn't say anything regarding paint chipping. Anyone else know of this in advance or am I just plain late?

Re: Recall Notice! In mail Today 5/20/02

I've never gotten any kind of recal notice from Nissan yet. I bought my 2001 SE in November of 2000. I hope the notice isn't for something too serious.

The only thing I ever get from Nissan in the mail are my car payment notices. Now that they never forget to send out.

How about calling the dealer and finding out for all of us? Is this just for 2k1's or something? I haven't heard of a recall! Maybe they got you listed as a 2k2?

As far as i know, the Recall Notices are sent out by Nissan in a self-sealing white envelope with those tear out ends (similar to what you'd normally see in paycheck stubs).

Perhaps this is a marketing gimmick from your local dealer? Just a guess.

Why would a DEALER send out a recall notice? Recalls originate from Nissan.

Sounds like an advertising ploy... get you in to try and sell you something.

Just my .02.

Recall

I bought my 2001 Max in Sept. of 2000, and haven't gotten any recall notice yet. Call the dealership and let us know.

I think it is and ad ploy. I received one today from Sutherlin Nissan... another Atlanta area dealer. What it REALLY says is that "you should bring in your car and let us do our free 35 point inspection and see if there are any recalls on your car". I think it is just a way to "introduce" max owners to their local dealer. (though I have to wonder why... most 2000 vehicles are still under warranty, and people know well who their closest dealer is).
