how can i "lock" the trunk to prevent access?

if i use the valet key, can i prevent the valet from getting access to my trunk? other cars have a key lock by the trunk/gas lid area, but since our latches are on the door, how do i lock it? (can't believe i'm asking this NOW after i've had to car for over 2 years! )

inside the trunk where the lock is, if you look inside you will see a little lever that goes up and down, thats the lock

There is a metal lever located inside a cutout near the trunk latch that you can switch.

By doing that, then how do you open the trunk? With the remote?

you can only open it with the key if you use the lock, and the valet key wont open the trunk

After disabling the "trunk release" mechanism, you can also purchase one of those APC security locks & replace your trunk lock with it. That way thieves can't just pry it open with a screwdriver (like they did to my Hyundai in broad daylight on a busy NYC street!)

and i guess there's also a similar mechanism for the seats, so they can't get in the trunk by flipping down the seats from the inside?

Well on the back deck of your car, below the rear windshield, there should be a keyhole. You can use your key to lock the back seats from folding down. But hey guys thanks for the tip about disabling the trunk lid release lever. I specifically asked that question at the dealer, and they had no idea...frickin idiots...now I know. Thanks!

Did they make that many changes between 2K1 and 2K2?

On my 2K1, there are switches on the backs of the rear seats that lock 'em so you can't get to the trunk from the interior. PITA to get to when you want them unlocked. You pretty much have to crawl into the truck to unlatch 'em...

That's what you get for throwing away your owners' manual.
