have the valentine one radar detector i keep seeing in the car mags?

How has it helped you?
Do you leave it on all the time?

I want one so I don't have to always be afraid of flying at 80+ in my 2k2 max. I got stopped for following a car too close in my pop's '80 280z. Luckly, I was doing the speed limit and didn't get cited for the speed. The trooper must have not been meeting his quota so he stopped me even though I was at least 1 1/2 car lengths behind but he claimed less than half a car length. I may be aggressive but I ain't stupid for following that close...that's tailgating...

 

I have a Bel Vector 980 (seems to have been replaced by the 985) which has beaten the Valentine in several publications. I would recommend it to anyone looking although it is pricey (cheaper than the Valentive though). And no, I don't use it all the time, just on longer roadtrips.
I've only had the vector for a short period of time so it hasn't 'saved' me yet (for every contact it has picked up I've been snarled in traffic and doing below the speedlimit) but my previous one (a really old Cobra unit) has more than paid for itself.

 

I LOVE it! I would NEVER go with another radar detector again.

It's saved me AT LEAST double what it cost in the little over a year I've owned it.

Do a search on Valentine and Bel to find lots of opinions.
