SES Light

I have a 2k with a manual tranny. It now has about 37k miles on the odometer. At about 18k miles the SES light first came on. I took it to the dealer and they reset the computer. They gave me a very vague reason for the light coming on.

About 15k miles later the light came on again. This time the dealer said they had to reprogram the computer so it would not be as sensitive.

This apparently was not the problem. Two weeks later the light again came on. This time the dealer said they had to replace parts related to the catalytic converter. Is anyone else having similar problems? My Max is now out of warranty and I'm worried this is going to be an ongoing problem.

Yes. My wife's 2K GXE with 43K threw an SES light. It was also related to the catalytic converter. I believe there's a TSB covering this. It may be NTB01-016a covering the rear O2 sensor. In any event, my dealership recalibrated the ECU and the check engine light has not reappeared. But she's only driven her car for about a week since the ECU was reprogrammed, so we'll have to wait and see what happens.

It was covered under warranty, Cisco. But I suspect that's because we have a 5/100K extended warranty on her vehicle.

I like your sceen name(Kinda like mine). If it's under warannty you pay $0. That's what a warranty is for. The warranty covers the cost for them to scan you car for an hour/hour and a half. They are probably lazy. I'm glad I haven't had any problems with the Nissan dealership here. I got my TSB on autotragic slipping and my o2 sensors fixed.
