2k2 aftermarket radio

I'm talking to a friend that installs alarms and radios. he was telling me that a 2k2 came in and wanted an alarm and radio. I was amazed at the amount of integration Nissan put into the 2k2 Maximas. Anybody else got a slick install?
Here's our conversation:

SPL Hertz: i need to get that program for myself
ThurzNite: seems pretty helpful
SPL Hertz: it is...especially on a 2002 maxima
ThurzNite: yeah. it's all sophisticated now. at least our cars are a lil simpler
SPL Hertz: yea
SPL Hertz: i did an alarm and cd player install on a 02 max with nav that no one else would touch
ThurzNite: whoa!
ThurzNite: so u took out the nav?
SPL Hertz: nope...had to integrate the facoty clarion deck in with the aftermarket
ThurzNite: i didn't know they had a dash kit for the 2k2 max already.
SPL Hertz: they dont
ThurzNite: nice
ThurzNite: oh. u kept the factory
SPL Hertz: nope
SPL Hertz: had to hide the factory deck
SPL Hertz: in order for the trip odometer and **** to work
SPL Hertz: and hide a speaker under the dash for the voice on navi to work
SPL Hertz: then hook up the aftermarket deck
SPL Hertz: and custom dash kit for it
ThurzNite: holy cow. that's crazy. u da man
SPL Hertz: pain in the ***
SPL Hertz: especially since it was the alpine iva-c800 that had a seperate brain for the amp and ****
SPL Hertz: and that had to be hidden somewhere which meant i had to make a **** load of wires longer
SPL Hertz: and had to pull the antenna wire from dash to where we mounted the brain
ThurzNite: nice work

In other words, they don't know what they're talking about.

ummmm

yeah.. kits are out.. and I think all of those issues, like the trip ODO have been long since figured out.

2k2 hasnt changed at all from 2K+ except for needing a converter for wheel controls and the trip/odo display.

Anyhow, long time no see Thurz.. I think your old maxima bbs is still out there in the void of the web somewhere.

oh. i'll let him know that DEI's got it figured out and documented. We were talking about the DEI technotes...he works for a nissan dealership and they don't have anythink like technotes.

Yup, my old school bbs is still up. I get about 1 post every month. But near the top, it clearly has a link to maxima.org. Good to see u again TimW.
