service engine soon

Hi all.

The dreaded "Service Engine Soon" light came on in my Maxima this morning. When I went to check the ECU diagnostics via the screw by the gas pedal, I found that, unfortunately, that screw is not present on the 2000 Maximas.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

My "service engine" light came on Monday 5/27.
I have an 01 SE auto with 16k miles.
The dealer checked it yesterday and replaced my 02 sensor
part 226A0-4L713. Covered under warranty. The computer also had
to be reprogrammed.

HOLY ISHHHHH same here!! happened wed. morning! i got a light and a redline restriction to 2200 rpm. Is there a TSB out for this? I need some ammo in case the dealer says its not under warranty due to my intake.

If they said they cant fix because of the intake, then but your OEM intake back on and take it to a different nissan dealership. I dont know if u did any drilling or anything but it might work.

Weird

This is really Bizarr. I just had the same problem. I have about 53K on my 2k Max and I just finished a 60K tuneup. I dropped in the K&N air filter in and the light came one after I drove it for a while. but about a week before my tuneup, the service engine light came on and I just thought it was a reminder or some sort about the up coming tune-up. So I just resetted the car. So after my tune-up the light came on and I had to resetted the car a couple of times and after the 3rd time, I decided to drop it off the dealers. They checked it out and told me it was the O2 sensor from the cat and it also need some reprogramming. What a stupid car. Everything was fixed under warranty. Supposedly under the powertrain warranty I think. But it's just weird that all of a sudden everyone is goin through the same problem.

I thought the same thing about my light, since I have 28K on my car, I figured it was just some reminder to get the 30K service...

How did you "reset" the light? Did you disconnect the battery?

Well, I have an appointment on Monday with the local dealer....
