How did you swing such a deal? Invoice on your Max (assuming you also have the HLSD) is $26,600 (according to Edmunds). The dealer only has about a 600-800 holdback so he mush have taken quite a bite on your car. Did you go down on him or something? Did you go 3.9% or the $1000 rebate. Also, if your price included Tax, what was the negotiated price of the car by itself?

I paid $26,300 with the $1,000 rebate but they had to go get my car from Tejas and they charged me $375 for it. Its got everything except Nav and the Meridian package. I also put $15K down and got it financed at 7.99% (couldn't get 3.9% and the rebate). Not a bad rate considering my lack of credit. I don't have bad credit, just not a lot of it, I'm only 23 ya know .

Man... I hate these kinda threads. Cuz' I find out just how much I overpaid!

Thought I was gettin a good deal! Got mine 10/01 completetly loaded except for meridian pkg, + tint = $29,100.00 + 5.9% (best rate at THAT time) Stickered at 31,800.00.

Seems like the people that patiently waited for their 2k2's were rewarded...

That's what I was going to pay for a black SE with every option except navi. The note would have got me for $579/month and I was not comfortable paying that. Therefore, I wound up with my current SE for invoice and no $$ down as well as the $1000 rebate. Current note is $519.35.

I purchased mine for invoice. I hear some people getting under invoice here and there. So if your friend can really hook you up, your purchase price before tax and tag should definitely be under the invoice price.

I paid $99 over invoice. 6 speed, Bose, moonroof, traction control, & splash guards. Final price with 6% sales tax was $27,800. 3.9% financing. No money down.

1,500 miles and no regrets.

Silver Mist SE auto with only floor mats and splash guards.

Bought it last week for $23,656 + tax/tag which is a hundred bucks (+/-) over invoice, before the $1,000 cash back. This was supposed to be "under invoice", but it seemed to include certain dealer operating expenses (marketing adjustment), which chaps my @ss (adding operational expenses to a capital cost???). If they try to play that game with you, then immediately subtract the 3% holdback from the price; that way you can honestly start to include dealer expenses.

The 2003's should be available any day now, which means that it would be a better deal to get a new 2003 since the depreciation of the 2002 models outweighs the benefit of $1,000 cash back (which apparently will not be available on the 2003). I was concerned about the new Max's being produced domestically, on a new line, for the first time, so I wanted a 2002.

Good luck.

I think timing has to do with everything (unless you know someone who can hook you up). But I'm sure that most people who feel they paid a premium bought theirs early in the production. But if you buy a 2002 now, you can probably get it at really close to cost.

Look at it this way, those who bought it early have had more time to enjoy their ride than those who are just getting them now. Just my thoughts.

plus, if you got it in 8/01 you got a 9 month jump on depreciation.

when (if) you go to sell the car in 2008 or something the the "used car prices" only know that its a 2002, not a 2002 from 8/01 or a 2002 from 5/02.

so....either those who bought early get their money's worth and people who bought later get a little bit less than their money's worth.
or
the people who bought late got their money's worth and those who bought early get a little bit more than their money's worth.

it depends on how you look at it. since your both cars are considered just as "old" but the early buyers got as many as 9 months more use out of their car. miles will accound for a little bit of a different but YEARS take off more $ of value than MILES do.

...Man, I still feel like I got a good deal.

Bought Feb. 2002
2002 Max SE
base SE package + 4 splash guards and Maxima floor mats

Paid $22,400 plus TT&L = out the door at $24,100
That was with the $1000 cash back included so I got a 60 mo. note @ 5.4% (Pretty good considering I am 24 and it was all on my credit history) and $0 down = 463/mo.

Pretty good huh?

Two days after Thanksgiving here just west of Chicago:

02 SE Silver Mist with:

Auto
Leather
Meridian
Traction control
Bose
Sunroof
Floor mats

No NAV and no splash guards

Listed for $30.8 I believe. Paid $27.6K cash. I offered $27.5 and just waited out the crying and complaining from the dealer.

This was before the $1000 rebate.

Wow, that must be the bargain of the forum. Let me guess:

1. You are one really, really lucky SOB.
2. You bought a car with salvage or flood title.
3. You bought it from your grandpa.
4. Your uncle is a Nissan dealer.
5. Your uncle is G.W.

So, which is it?

Sticker on my 2k2 was $30,500:

Trade-in: $1000
Rebate: $1000

And I think I ended up financing $25,000 so they knocked about $3800 off the price if you figure in tax.

The sticker on my 2k2 was $30,401. It had everything but the HLSD and NAVI. With the $1,000 rebate, I picked it for $26,200 plus tax, reg and all of those fees. Financed $19018 for 60 months at 5.49%. Monthly payment $364.01. Not too bad for back in March.
