More questions about the stock 2k2 Navi

I realize there are posts right around this one about the same thing, I just want to be clear about a few things too.

Has anyone figured out how to tap into the navi's vid/audio sources? If so, it would almost seal the deal of me getting a 2k2 max. I am also wondering if the stock navi has anything to do with the HVAC controls or are they totally seperate? Meaning does the navi display any of the HVAC information, or better yet, does the HVAC rely on the Navi screen being there?

I am asking about all this because if the display can be tapped into, I will be able to use it as my display for my carpc setup, and rip out the stock tape deck to install my din sized carpc i'm working on. THe 4th gen maxima's dashs work out perfect for the setup I'm looking for, but the 2k2 is oh so sexier and faster Anyway, I hope you guys haven't given up the hope, I wish I had a 2k2 maxima already to mess with, I'd love to tear it apart and snoop around.

Keep us all posted, I"m sure Kloogy and a few others are still interested in the information for their dvd stuff.

Thanks a bunch, I hope my lurking here doesn't bother you guys. After all my 96 Dodge Intrepid can't hold a candle to a maxima of any year. BUt she gets me from point A to point B with 40 gigs of mp3s, music videos, tv, dvd, divx, gps. So I can't complain to much.

Cheers!

Yeah, the HVAC controls are completely ingtegrated with the Navi screen. There is no way to work them without it.

I want to figure out how to bypass that opening screen that warns you how its unsafe to use the Navi that you just paid an extra $1000 for.

Nav and HVAC

You don't have to have the Nav on to operate climate; you just won't have the visual on how the air is flowing (i.e., through which vents) or the temp that you are setting. But the Nav doesn't have to be on to operate HVAC.

I've not yes used the Nav for an audio CD, although the manual says you can. When I called Zenrin, the dealer, about adt'l map cd's, the guy told me NOT to use it for audio. He couldn't tell me why, or why the manual still says you can, so go figure. I think it can be done, but I just haven't had a reason to.

great pics. what rez are you using there? 320? have you tried any on the GPS programs? Street Altas wants 800x600 and I think that would make the text unreadable

TimW,

Believe it or not, but that is 800x600 you are looking at. I just increased the font sizes for the icons and for the various playlists in Winamp. I can go pretty low res with a Radeon 7500 Tweaker app I got, but I've gotten used to the extra screen room. Anyway, I have a great gps app called Copilot, but my GPS unit is dead, I have to get a new one. But all in all I love the setup I have, took a weekend of straight working on it to build the case, the various "mods" in the cabin and running all the wires.

Thanks for the compliments, I just hope to move the setup into a Maxima
