Repainted my grill

I got a little bit carried away with the engine degreaser yesterday (as I always do when I get a spray bottle in my hand) and ended up having overspray all over my front grill, which ruined it.

I just spent the last 4 hours masking, scrubbing, priming and repainting it in 110 degree heat. The auto paint store had actual grill paint that was designed for it. The color I picked was just a wee bit darker than before.

Here is the end result:

While I would not recommend painting your grill for the fun of it, I would have to say it came out fairly decent. I give it an 8 out of 10, just because it is a wee bit gritty.

I give it a 10 out of 10 against those grease spots that were there.

Let's see how long it lasts before chipping.

Left it on.... Spent a couple of hours masking it off- behind the grill, bumper, etc. Not a drop of paint got anywhere. I tucked in all the tape underneath the trim with an exacto knife. Worked out really well with the proper preparation.

Do I need to put a clear coat on? It was made for trim panels and stuff and the directions don't say to.....

BTW- I PMd you a long time ago about how cool your headlights were. I didn't know that those were the stock HID's. For some reason, in the pic in your sig, the lights look cooler. Did you mess with them in Photoshop?

Can't take the grill off a 2000. Have to take the whole dang bumper off.

But I DID do it in my garage. I just rolled it out like that to take the pic. The flash on my camera sucks. I just laid some drop cloths down. Worked like a charm.

Hell no, I'm not that stupid....

are you sure about this? cuz from the looks of it(when i took the bumper off last time), it looks like the grill and the bumper are 2 separate piece...but then again, maybe i'm wrong..

positive. This was discussed last night too and I thought that they were wrong. But when I got out there, they were somehow molded together. You have to take the whole bumper off, and then I think you have a shot of separating them. 2K2 is different, though.
