Why, are you betting money on something?
Really it depends on the driver.
If it's straight-line or twisties.
Wet or dry.
etc.

ahh dang...

here we go again...

the universal answer would be how well you can drive the car... i think...

its up to the driver... up to a certain point.... sorta like tools...

Straight from Car&Driver***:Mustang GT*: 0-60= 6.8, 1/4 mile= 15.4@ 90mph
Maxima SE**: 0-60= 7.0, 1/4 mile= 15.6@91 mph
really it depends on the driver.
*couldn't find the 2000 GT specs, this is for 1998 I believe.
** A little under-rated I'd say.
*** ah hell I wouldn't believe a damn word.....

'99+ stock GT manuals run high 13s (some 13.7s have been posted) and stock GT autos run low-mid 14s

My answer to that is...WHO CARES if a Mustang can beat a Maxima. Who would want a car that you only see girls and guys with mulletts that wear NHRA tank tops driving. A mustang will never look at home at a valet on a Friday night when you are out with a new lady friend. A Maxima does have a bit of luxury and taste.

Had both...

Traded my 2k SE 5 speed for an 01 GT 5 speed. Just got bored with the Max and wanted a loud V8 rough-around-the-edges car again. Also, I wanted to go recreational road racing with it.

I must say that in my seat-of-pants estimate, my GT is faster than my 2k Max was. I have not been in the 2k2 with the bigger motor.

Of course, you don't buy these two cars for the same reasons, so there's little value in comparing any other aspect of them aside from performance as the Max wins the "quality" awards hands down.

And I don't have a mullet.

DAMN I wish I could trade in my max for a 01 GT.

Just for the record, V8 mustangs with the right mods sound amazing and look really cool, it's just the 100,000,000 v6's you see ruin it.

When I get out of College I'm gettin a Cobra....Mmmmmmmm. Until now I will enjoy the comfort, refinement, looks, VQ snarl, reliability and plushness of my Max. It's cool to have the fastest car in it's class.
