Crashed on my road bike and crushed a few bones in my hand. I had to have surgery to pin the bones back together. My left arm is in a splint and since I can't drive a standard with one hand I'll be driving my wifes SUV 100 miles a day for 6 weeks.

Walk it off!
I put a piece of wood the size of a pencil through my right thumb knuckle (no, not on purpose) 3 weeks ago and never missed a day in the Max... I even drove myself to the ER.
Seriously, get well. I only messed up my right hand, not arm, so it wasn't too bad driving. It hurt, but the alternative was driving my wife wagon and I didn't buy a 6-speed SE to drive a wagon for a few weeks.

And, my wife can drive a standard better than I can, so at least my car will be alright...

No, it is not your wife's car, to either have or drive.
Give the Max a rest, while you are healing up.
Tell your wife you will contribute to her paying for buses (maybe even pay 100% for buses, while you check to see to if her SUV is OK or not, over the next 6 weeks.)
Don't be hen pecked. Unless you want your Max returned to you full of scratches, dents perfume smells, etc. You have got to be cruel to be kind. (Kind to your Max)
