2k2 problems, help me!
2k2 problems, help me!
Okay i have now racked on 2500+ kms on my 2k2 Maxima SE 6speed with HLSD>. Now i need constructive help on some of the problems i am having.
1. Getting a lot of vibrations from the brake.. I think my rotors are already warped.. Is this normal on a new car?? I didn't break hard during break in period so what gives?
2. The shifter feels like ****. DIfficulties engaging some of the gears. I noticed tha forth gear has a nasty frictiony feel when shifting out. 6th gear is sometimes difficult to engage.
3. AFter being new, and now past the break in stage, the clutch feels like ****. Its very difficult to engage the car smoothly between upshifts and downshifts (not like new) and starting in first now has a cheap chattery feel to it.
4. Driving the car in traffic and other throttle on/off situations, my car is very jerky. Off and on the throttle in any gera at any RPM at any speed results in jerky vehicle movements.. No matter how lightly i press the gas or let go, i get the same jerk!!
(PS.. My protege drove way more smoother than this with messed up syncrhos)
5. Today i had to crank the car longer than usual to get it started.. WHY!!
6. I noticed at night times, my check engine light is on dimly... I know some other guys have seen this, but is this normal?? Its not actually on, but very very dimly on, and it makes the guagues look cheap..
7. BOSE SUCKS period.
8. Steering radius.. WHAT THE HELL is wrong with this car. Its like worse than my 1990 ford aerostar. I know some of you guys removed some stoppers on the steering rack but i feel that nissan will void my warranty if i do this..
9. HOw many of you guys have alarms?? I am too concerned in installing my Compustar 2000AS because of the difficulties some of you guys had..
I havent taken the car to the dealer yet but i rather have your guys opinions first so i can go in with some power backing me, maybe even print this thread.

Re: 2k2 problems, help me!
#1, 5 and 6 are problems I haven't heard of or had. Those probably need to be checked out by the dealer. When you row through the gears going full throttle my tranny seems to shift more smoothly than when driving normally though traffic. Some BG Synchroshift or Redline gear oil will cure this. Alot of that other stuff is just getting used to a new car. Good luck.

MiniRX7, you've come to the same realization that I have.
This car ain't perfect. Good car, but far from spectacular. Don't worry, you'll soon get used to all the nit noid stuff and you won't even notice after awhile.
Especially how noisy this car is. Ever stand next to the car with it running? My Maxima makes quite a racket. Sounds like a box of bolts bouncing around on a conveyor belt.

Well at my age of 24, and the fact that this car is not cheap and i am paying for it... i would expect a lot more from this car than to have this $hitty problems..
My protege which was half the price wasn't this bad dude..
The dealership is oging to get an earful when i am done with them..

I hear ya man, I'm in the same boat. My last car was a Purple Metallic 1998 Grand Am GT. I bought it brand new and drove it for four years. Zero problems, very few scratches on the paint and windshield. It handled better and had better ergonomics and seats than my fully loaded Maxima does. I figured buying the Maxima was a huge step up, but apparently I was wrong.
For a $30,000 car, I expected better quality than what I got. The cheap interior materials, and crap paint have me thinking twice about this car. I could have easily gotten a Lexus IS300 or something, but the horsepower rating and luxury features are what suckered me. If the aftermarket support for this car existed, I might have considered keeping it for awhile. As it stands, I plan on driving this car for another year, maybe two. Then I'll dump it for something else.
