Flushing Oil
Flushing Oil
I wanted to flush out my old oil with my new oil and my question is when do I do this? Is it after I've drained the oil and removed the oil filter? If that were the case, wouldn't oil drain from the filter outlet and not the pan because it is higher?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Just let the oil drain till nothing comes out and replace oil and new filter. As for a flush, they have flush treatments that you put in the oil right before a change but I never use them, don't like the idea, and never needed it. If you change your oil and filter every 3000 miles you will have a very clean motor even at 200k miles.

2. Remove drain plug bolt and drain into plastic pan.
3. When draining is complete, put plug back in.
3. Remove filter
4. Replace filter with new one.
5. Fill oil. 4 1/2 quarts.
6. Put oil cap back on.
7. Drain old oil into your kitchen sink.
If you did not realize that number seven is a joke, please do not attempt steps 1-6. Take your car to Jiffy-Lube.
