2 races last night, I never knew those things were that fast

1st race was with a couple H.S. guys in a 97ish Bonneville SLE (non-supercharged)

They were in front of me in traffic and the two passengers kept looking back and staring at my friggen grill. The driver, I guess was looking also in his rear view mirror since he seems to be swerving left/right. Traffic was ahead of us and behind us, how safe Out lane cleared up and they speed up a little and now we are out of the traffic. They move over into the other lane and his back passenger kept staring back and me and getting all excited and yelling (I guess from the excitement) at the driver. I was near the rear bumper and I slam it into 1st, again chirping into that gear (Mad TQ steer also) and the other car gets on the gas. Into 2nd gear, I'm already next to them and walking on them at the end of 2nd gear. I flash my hazards, first time ever in a fact , and slowed down. He friggen flashes his highbeams... Oh well

After I got gas, I go back out and actually lined up with this green auto SHO with some "team" stickers on the side of the car. He doesn't look modded though. I look over and he's already looking at me and turns his head quickly (can we say gay?)He gives a couple little revs. Light turns green and I just punch it. My car boggs, DOH! I forgot to shut off TCS. He pulls on my instantly and I finally catch up to his rear bumper at the top of 1st gear. Shift it into 2nd gear and I still see his taillights but I catch up more at the top of this gear. 3rd gear, he just slowly walks away from me. ugh! I never knew those things could be that fast. Now I'm thinking What if...

Nice run against the SHO. There's a video somewhere of yo_its_ok making a run against one of those V8 auto's and damn it was freakin close.

Here they are...from maximaproducts.com

Hogan was powershifting the auto at redline too - you could hear him hit the rev limiter in the first video.

He did not 'look' modded? In my experience, the more modded a car 'looks', the slower it actually is. My SHO appears bone stock, but runs's mid 14's. I am not sure what your car runs, but a stock auto SHO is only good for mid 15's usually. They can be made MUCH quicker though, as is true with just about anything. I hope my nitrous setup takes me deep into the 13's, which is not bad for a 7 yr old 4-door weighing in at over 3500 lbs.

I remember when i had my 92'se 5spd, i regularly get spanked by SHOs back when they were only avaliable with 5 speeds. That yamaha engine is pretty good. But never encountered one in my 00', i want my revenge!!

Are the 00's that much quicker? I know a stock SHO vs the 02 Max would be a Max win most likely (but from the traps I have seen, it might still be a close highway race), but what does the 00 run? Also, aren't those F1's a pretty heavy wheel? That can hurt your times a bit. Let us know if you run into SHO and get a race. I hope to have some more SHO vs Max races in the future as well.

Well, it will be fall before I put the nitrous on, I want to see what she will run with the cams and UDP's and other NA mods first. Those alone coudl get me into the 13's if all goes perfect, but the nitrous is a sure bet. And you bet I am going to be racing everything I see then!

The SHO was one of those cars that almost made me buy domestic again. I like the 2nd gen ones the best. In white those things looked like a shark The 3rd gen V8 would have had me IF they made a damn manual for the engine, but nooooooooo.

I'm a lot quicker and faster than that now...

I'm beating on consistent 14.9x 5spds now. Easily outrunning them on top end 130+ Most are gone by 145. Except that "blown" one, but I'll get him yet, I got time, just need more fundage.

I dont know if im quicker than the old SHO, but im certainly faster than my old 92'=) I almost bought the old SHO before, because i was regularly having my a$$ handed to me by them. But now moving to L.A, i never even see Fords no more, let alone SHOs.
And yes, my F1s are much heavier, i weighed it once and its like 50+ibds including tires.........but who cares, it looks so damn nice, because its WHITE!! however, i curse at it everytime i rotate them, it literally breaks my back.
